The bar was already roudy when the three arrived. Hayden Wagner
looked around and raised an eyebrow. "And you come here often, Shane?"
"All
the time." Shane said, ushering him and his twin brother Jordan. Both
Wagners were under Washu's image projectors, looking none the less
human then some of the other patrons.
"I like it!" Jordan said gleefully.
Shane
snorted and lead the way back to a booth. Only one other booth was
occupied, next to them, by a silver haired grunge young man and a red
headed young man who was to fucking feminine for his own good and
obviously trying to hide that by the punk look. Shane felt sorry for
the red head, probably going to get hurt in a place like this looking
far more attractive as a girl then the waitresses.
Speaking of
Waitresses. Kate was crossing the floor as Shane and the twins sat
down. "Long time no see, Shane." Kate said with a good natured smile
and a wink. She was a naturally pretty blonde woman in her mid 30s. And
she might have been sweet on Shane but everyone knew it was Shane's
father, Logan that Kate had a thing for.
"Kate. What's up with the crowd?" Shane nodded with his chin at the rowdy patrons.
"Wet t-shirt contest got cancelled. What can I get you boys?" Kate asked.
Shane grimaced mockingly and answered. "Three brews. Tap."
"You got it sugar." Kate winked again and smiled at the twins, before moving past them and stopping at the second booth.
Shane
heard the two order a Millar and Harry's special Pirate Hunter cocktail
and Kate say. "Harry only limits a customer to four of those, this'll
be your third..."
He heard a soft voice answer, "This'll be my
last one," And glanced over to see that it was the red head who'd
spoken and he looked quiet sober. Shane winced, knowing what went into
a Pirate Hunter, having held the record of downing six in a straight
row. Before Shane fell off his stool, with his dad laughing his ass
off. Shane had been 18 and it had been his first drinking experience.
Kate
sighed, then nodded and headed for the bar. Shane watched silver haired
grunge lean forward and heard him slurringly say. "I'm not carryin' yer
arse outta 'ere." He had a thick irish accent.
The red head grinned and patted the grunge youth on the arm. "It's okay Eire...I'll drive."
Shane snorted softly, grinning slightly, keeping on eye on the rowdy patrons.
Kate returned with the drinks and all five sat silently drinking, and watching the rowdy patrons.
Then
it happened. A rough fight began braking out. Shane's head snapped up
from his cigarette when he heard breaking bottles and Jordan was
fidgeting in his seat, watching the main floor.
The other two
had also turned their attentions to the floor and the red head looked
like he was about to get up, when some one from the fight threw a
chair. The red head threw himself under the table as the chair crashed
into the table. The silver haired guy threw himself over the booth into
Hayden's lap. "'orry Mate!" He said quickly, climbing off of Hayden .
Shane
was on his feet as the fight began moving closer to them. He stooped
and moment and offered his hand to the red head, who accepted and Shane
pulled him to his feet. He looked at the guy, yeah, a lot of trouble
for this one. But he didn't look drunk. And he was watching the fight
with an apperensive look.
Shane knew looks could be deceptive
and said. "Any chance of gettin' out of here is now cut off...think you
can handle it, if the fight moves are way."
The red head
looked at him with a slight irritated, slightly amused look. "Yeah, I
think so. It's him I'm worryed about." He nodded to his friend. Shane
looked and saw the guy leaning on the booth,
"We'll keep 'im
under the table." Shane said, the fight coming closer. Shane began
pulling a chair from a near by table near him and held out his other
hand. "Name's Shane Li."
The redhead had already picked up a pool que that had been thrown and took Shane's hand, shaking it. "Lex Mordant."
Shane
nodded. "That's Jordan and Hayden Wagner. Boys, keep it simple. No
freaky stuff." Shane warned the twins, who just grinned in reply.
"That's
Eire Montgomery." Lex nodded to Eire who was pulling himself up right.
Shane caught a scent and looked at the silver haired young man, seeing
he'd sobered up very quickly and Shane knew why. Shane and Eire's gaze
met and both exchanged a grin only an animal could know about.
"Pleasure." Eire said with a grin, grabbing another chair.
At
that moment, several bodies fell in on the five. Shane used the chair
to shove people back, but one guy swung another chair and broke the one
Shane was holding. Shane ducked a punch and came up hitting the man in
the jaw, before shoving him back. He noticed Harry and Kate and the
other waitresses retreated to the back room. They'd have about ten
minutes to really duke it out before the cops showed up, or Harry came
back out with his shot gun.
Jordan and Hayden were having more fun, playing cat and mouse with the guys who were trying to pick a fight with them.
But
Eire was duking it out with a large barly guy near by, ducking punches
with ease. He grabbed a beer bottle and brought it crashing down on the
guy's arm, ducking another swipe.
Shane glanced over his
shoulder and caught sight of Lex. Another man had grabbed a pool que
and swung it at Lex, who flipped his vertically and blocked the blow,
while leaning back. One of Lex's hands came off the pool que to come
around on the guys side, at his elbow and Shane heard a snap. Lex
ducked a last attempt blow by the guy as the man feel away yelling in
pain to grab his elbow.
Then Lex was ducking a beer bottle.
Shane smirked slightly and turned back to the fight, Some one had a
jagged bottle poking at Shane and Shane took a half step back as the
man lunged forward. Then Shane grabbed his upper arm, jerking down
ward, dislocating the shoulder and then elbow'd the man in the nose,
before shoving him away.
They faught their way to the door,
but some one must've spread word that it was now a gang up on Shane and
the other four because half way there a short, blonde headed young man,
handsome, stepped in front of the group.
Everyone came to a
stop staring at the man in disbelief. He gave an arragont nod of the
chin to Shane, silently challenging him, then took a defensive stance.
"Ah fuckin' hell, ya gotta fuckin' be kiddin' me! Fuck man!" Shane groaned with an irritated gesture.
"Jus' knock 'im 'round, kick 'is arse a bit and we'll go!" Eire put in.
"Come on Shane!" Jordan goaded.
"Fine!" Shane snapped, taking off his leather coat. "Mind holdin' this?" He asked Lex.
"Nah." Lex took the jacket.
Shane nodded. "Obliged, be right back." He moved forward. The blonde guy began circling him. The crowd began giving them room. .............. TBC
