Bull walked into the building to find a handful of his co-workers sprawled about on the couches ignoring the Tv that was blaring away some movie, and were busy arguing. He hung up his coat, wiped his boots off as good as he could, and after taking a peek into his mail box and finding it empty, wandered over to see what was going on.
"Well I think we should all pitch in and help to track her donw in time." Aiyla was saying in between eating a handful of chips. Bull reached over and grabbed a handful and sat on the arm of the nearest couch. Nate snorted in answer to Aiyla's comment, and shifted over a bit to give Bull more room. "Aiy, love. If y' think 'twer that easy, don't y' think she'd be found by now? Auron and Kay have been throwing everythin' they have int' th' search..."
"Who are you guys looking for?" Bull asked, completely lost by the conversation.
Lex glanced over and knocked the ashes of a cigarette. "My siser.. half sister... Chaos's daughter, Regan."
Bull's eyebrow's shot up. "Whoa, wait a minute.. Chaos has a daughter?! When did this happen?!"
Aiyla snorted and whacked Bull with a pillow. "Quite a while ago, back when she was still married to Auron. Regan would probably be around our ages.. or at least look like it. She was kidnapped as a kid."
Nate leaned back and slipped an arm around Aiyla's waist. "Aiy thinks we can find her in time fer Kay an' Auron t' get hitched again."
Bull looked completely lost. "Kay's getting married? When did this happen? Why don't I know any of this?"
The others chuckled and tossed pillows at him. Lex leaned back against the couch in time to avoid his cigareete getting knocked out of his hand by Rue whipping a pillow past him. "You don't know any of this because you're never here, and we're not supposed to know about them getting married yet.. we sort of... found out by *accident*." the red head added with a mischievious smirk.
Rue snorted from her seat by Sands, who echoed her sentiments, but neither said anything. Bull frowned. "Okay.. so let me get this straight.. Kay and Auron used to be married, and they had a daughter... but someone kidnapped her, and they got hit by that spell that wiped out their memories.... and now you guys want to find her so she can be at the wedding?"
A chorus of nods greeting his question and he shrugged. "Okay. I'm in. Awesome wedding present. What can I do to help?"
"Help with what?"
Another chorus went up, this one of groans as Reese appeared. "What?" he asked loking at Bull. "what's their problem?"
Bull smirked. " We're going to find Chaos' missing daughter for them.. she's around our age somewhere...." he voice trailed off at a thought. He turned and looked to the others. "Hey... you guys wouldn't happen to know whether or not she looked like Kay, would you?"
The other exchanged glances. Rue looked over and shrugged. "I don't think Kay's ever mentioned her to me, other then wanting to find her."
"Yeah. "Lex said quietly. "Dad said once that she looked like Kay... but that was a long time ago..."
Bull grinned snapped his fingers. "I know where she is!"
His statement was met by slack jaws, wide eyes and firm disbelief. "No seriously.. Reese, you met her.."
Reese raised an eyebrow as he leaned back from nabbing a handful of chips. "Who? You mean that scarey chick from New York.. what's her name..Chill ?"
Bull nodded. "Yeah yeah.." he turned to the others. "Seriously! Look, she's about our age and looks EXACTLY like Kay .. I mean , it's really eerie.. no offense, E...and the kicker 's that she doesn't know who she is! She has like, amnesia or something like that.. can't remember anything past a few years ago!"
The room was silent except for the crunch of Reese eating potato chips as everyone weighed Bull's words and exchanged glances. "Look..i'll go find her and bring her here so you guys can see for yourselves!" he said and bounced to his feet. He quickly grabbed his coat and pulled it back on before opening a portal and stepping through. Reese shrugged, grabbed another handful of chips and followed Bull through before the portal could close.
____
Reese yawned for the fourth time and gave another sigh. "You're never going to find her this way, Bull. It's a big city, she could be anywhere."
Bull continued scouring the street as they walked. "I'll find her."
"We've already been at this two days, Bull..."
Bull spun around and glared at his friend, completely taking the bigger man by surprise. "I said, I'll find her. If all you're going to do is follow me around and complain or poke fun at me, go home. I'll do this by myself." He turned and continued his search.
"Hey.. dude.. look.. I'm sorry, I just..."
Bull came to a stop so fast Reese walked into him before he noticed. Bull wasn't even phased by almost being knocked to the pavement. Instead he turned to him with a huge grin and punched him in the shoulder. "I told you i'd find her!" he said and suddenly took off running. Reese gave a groan and ran of after him.
"Chill! Hey Chill!" Bull yelled, trying to catch the attention of the leather clad woman who was window shopping up ahead. She turned and glared at him, her icy blue eyes enough to make any sane person stop dead in their tracks. Bull kept yelling and finally came to a stop in front of her where she leaned aganist the window, her long white hair loose about her shoulders. She didn't say a word as he bent over and tried to catch his breath. "Whoa! Boy you're a hard lady to find! I've been trying to track you down for two days!"
She just stared coldly at him, as she answered dully, "Really. Dare I ask why?"
Bull just grinned hugely. "I know who you are! I found you're family! You're name is Regan Mordant, and you were kidnapped when you were three and a half !"
Her only response to this surpising news was to raise one eyebrow. "Really? Regan Mordant, huh?" She turned her cool gaze to Reese, looking him over before turning her attention back to Bull. "Doesn't ring a bell." she turned and began walking along the window again, looking over the items on display.
Bull watched her walk off, his mouth hanging open in disbelief. "Chill.. Regan.. Wait! You have to come meet them! They've been looking every where for you!"
She turned with a sigh. "If they've been looking every where for me, why haven't they found me? If I've been missing since I was three..." she spread her hands, gave a snort and gave her head a toss as she turned back around, the long white tresses falling down her back, glaringly bright against the black of her coat.
Reese decided to take pity on his friend. "They weren't able to spend all that time looking for you. The people who took you put them were put under a spell that made them forget you and each other.. the spell was just broken and little while ago and they started searching immediately. Bull's right.. you should come meet them at least."
Chill didn't even turn around. She just glanced at Reeses reflection in the window. "A spell? Really.. how convienent."
Bull couldn't believe what he was hearing. After everything.. and she didn't care...? He bounded forward and grabbed her arm. "Chill, come on! you HAVE to.."
Chill spun around and knocked Bull flying across the busy sidewalk. she stalked after him and stodd above him, glaring down at him. "I don't HAVE to do anything, litle freak, and if you ever lay a hand on me again, you will lose it. " she squatted donw in front of him as he struggled to a sitting position from where he'd landed agaisnt a car. "Ever try that experiment? you know.. the one where you dip a hotdog in liquid nitrogen and then tap it against the counter to watch it shatter like glass....?"
Bull felt his stomach clench into a knot as she smiled at him and stood up. "But... they're your family? Don't you even want to know...?"
She glanced back over her shoulder as she walked away. "I'm fine as I am. Why ruin a good thing?"
Reese held out a card as she went to pass him. She paused and looked down at the busines card in his fingers. She gave him a cold smirk and plucked the card from his grasp, slipping it into her pocket and continued past.
Reese went to help Bull to his feet, and the two watched her vanish back into the crowd. Reese shook his head. "Damn... she is definately Kay's daughter, yes siree.. she might even be scarier then Kay.."
Bull just stared after her in disbelief. "How could she not want to know? They're her family..."
Bull sat in the ‘community’ kitchen and stared morosely into his hot chocolate as he played with the spoon. Reese had given up and left a while before but Rue, Xander and, oddly enough Lex, were sitting with him, trying to get him out of his funk.
“I can’t believe that…” Lex was muttering softly, staring into his own coffee. “It couldn’t have been her… I mean… “ he gave his head a shake.
Bull snorted his agreement and continued swirling the marshmallows around in his cup. Rue and Xander watched the two of them. “Lex.. you’re not helping.” Rue said with a smirk as the red head looked up in surprise, then smirked sheepishly.
“Well, I say it’s her loss.“ Xander said. “Turn any info you have on her over to Auron and Chaos and let them contact her. You found her, that’s all you can do.”
“Xander’s right, Bull.” Rue said, patting his arm. “You did a good thing! You found her when no one else could! Auron’s been turning his considerable resources to finding her for months, and you were the one who tracked her down for them. We should tell Kay we found her. Shame Auron had to run off, we can fill him in later. Come on.” Rue stood up looked down Bull. “Come on.. let’s go tell her we found Regan!”
Bull waved her off, still staring into his mug of formerly hot chocolate. “Nah.. you guys go ahead. You’re her friends anyhow.. I’m sure she’d rather hear it from you guys…”
Rue suddenly turned and looked at the door leading into the office hallway and started, “Kay…”
Bull looked up to see Chaos standing in the doorway, staring at them. “You .. you found her?”
“Bull did.” Rue said, coming around the table towards her friend. “She’s in New York. The guys say she looks fine and seems well enough. Apparently, she’s suffereing from amnesia and doesn’t remember anything beyond the past few years… but Kay… she doesn’t apparently want to meet you guys .. at least not yet….”
Chaos took this news instride and nodded slowly.” It’s alright. I’m not surprised.. after all.. she has no clue what happened… all she knows is that we weren’t there. Maybe she’ll change her mind after she thinks about it for a while…” She turned her gaze to Bull. “Thank you, Bull. “she said and a smile slowly spread across her face and her eyes grew wet. “Thank you so much.”
Before anyone could say anything she’d turned and fled back to her office.
___
Chaos was pacing back and forth in her office, trying to decide if she should call Auron and tell him, or wait until he got back. He’d said he had something important to do and she didn’t want to distract him.. and this would definitely distract him… but on the other hand… they’d found Regan..
Chaos jumped as the phone beeped at her and she moved around to press the intercom. Sylvie’s voice came through the speaker. “Kay? I’ve just been handed a call… well.. it’s from a young lady who claims she met with two of our people this morning.. something about your daughter? Would you like to take it, or should I..”
“I’ve got it Sylvie.. patch her through please.” Chaos cut her off as she moved quickly to her chair before her suddenly weak knees could give out. With a slight tremble to her hand she picked up the handset form the cradle as Sylvie told her it was line two. She took a deep breath and told herself I might not be her…“This is Clarice LaHey, to whom am I speaking to?”
There was silence on the other end for a moment. “I thought I asked to speak to a Mordant? Who are you?”
Chaos sighed. “Mr. Mordant is away at the moment. I’m the head of Chaos Incorporated and .. am well aquainted with the case you referred to.” She said, trying to keep her voice calm. Bull must not have told her there names.. only her own.. she was calling blind trying to find out about them.
There was an aggrevated sigh form the other end, then a voice snapped icily. “Look, I just wanted to speak to one of the Mordant’s..”
Chaos cleared her throat. “Well, his youngest son Lex might be in…”
Another silence followed by a soft sound she couldn’t place. A somewhat quieter voice asked softly.” Youngest son? He’s got other kids?”
Before Chaos could answer that, the voice continued. “Nevermind.. look lady, I didn’t call to talk to a kid, okay? Can I talk to his wife then? Or is she not around either?”
“Actually, Lex isn’t a kid… and you are talking to his wife.. or soon to be anyways…” this time the silence stretched out long enough that she thought perhaps the woman had hung up. She worked up the courage and spoke into the silence. “Regan? Baby is that you?”
There was hissed intake of breath followed by a “Oh fuck.” And the click of the receiver as the phone was hung up. Chaos closed her eyes and listened for a moment longer then let the phone drop back down into the cradle.
She rested her elbows on the desk and cradled her head in her hands for a moment. A soft knock at the door a minute later made her smirk. Someone had been waiting for the call light to go out on the other phone... "Come in."
Rue's head peeked around the door. "How'd it go?"
Chaos looked up at her. After a moment she shrugged and gave a strangled sort of chuckle. "I don't know... " she shook her head.
"Want to hit the gym? Or try out the new training room you guys have set up?"
Chaos stood and pulled her coat off the back of her chair where she'd tossed it earlier. "Oddly enough, no. But I think I would like a drink. Maybe two. Care to join me?"
Rue smirked. "I'll grab my coat. Elevator?"
Chaos shook her head. "Stairs are closer. I'll meet you in the garage." She reached forward and buzzed the front desk. Shauna's voice called out a weary 'Yo.'
"The word is 'yes' and you can cancel any appoinments for me for the next hour or so. See if Nate or Sylvie can handle them.. I'm going out for a bit."
She snapped of the intercom and headed for the stairs, her mind replaying the voice form the phone in her head ...
_______________
The conference room on the third floor was more then big enough for all of them to sit around the long table. Big enough for twice as many of them and still have room left over.
Sylvie sat one the far side, a neat stack of folders sitting in front of her. Lex was on her left, pen and paper in hand, with a spare pen tucked behind his ear. Nate, Aiyla, Xander, Eire, Bull, and Reese, filled out the rest of one side, while Shauna, Charli, Harry, Saffron, Rue, Sands , Faal and herself took up the other. A large chunk of table stretched beyond them still empty. While Saffron, Rue and Sands were not formally members of her team, they often sat in on meetings, especially if someone thought the topic might interest them. One of these days she was going to have to talk with each of them about joining for real. Harry, however, rarely came to any form of gathering, and his presence usually meant there was a problem of some sort.
At the moment, he was discussing one of said problems. He held up a folder as he spoke. “I have good news and bad news.” He said causing many of them to groan. “The good news is that we have been approved for the renewal on the new weapon’s licensing, so you can now legally store your various weapons on the premises. The bad news is, they've added a clause, so that now every employee and or resident within this building, over the age of nineteen has to be separately licensed. Whether they have access to the weapons or not. Which means all your people, including your secretaries have to be trained to handle these weapons so they can pass.”
Chaos ignored the grumbles around her. “Fine. Sounds like a good idea anyhow. Lord knows how trouble loves to find us.. this way everyone will be better off when it does find us. We’ve got the training room and the gym here, and Nate and Eire reported that the shooting range has accepted our application for renewal… so we’ll start setting up training schedules. Sylvie, can you co-ordinate that?” Sylvie merely nodded.
“Anything else, Harry?”
Harry nodded. “As a matter of fact yes. I’ve received word from the inquest, and Nate has been cleared of charges in the shooting death of… Mr. Shelby Dyre. They ruled that it was indeed in defense of Miss Conaill’s life.” Harry looked up to see several puzzled expressions. “Question?”
Eire stuck up his hand as if in class. ”Yeah.. who th’ fuck is Shelby Dyre?”
“Shelley.. Xanatos’ one pet.” Aiyla supplied helpfully.
Harry nodded to Aiyla before continuing. “ As well, you have all been cleared in the death of the other gentleman, as well.. Mr. Right, since not a single one of our weapons matched the wound that killed him. I would like to make yet another plea, that you please be somewhat more discreet. I’m tired of dealing with police investigations into shootings and stabbings and explosions and what not involving you guys.” He said, looking from Nate to Eire, then letting his gaze rest briefly on Reese as well, before closing his brief case and standing up. “Well this has been fun as always, but I need to go. I’ve got a meeting with my own partners in an hour. Excuse me.”
Chaos sighed and swung her chair around to face Lex. “Lex… how goes the Archive? I understand you’ve managed to get a remarkable amount of work done in the short time since you’ve accepted your post. Your assistant’s are working out well enough, I take it?”
Lex blushed as the attention suddenly shifted to him, but he nodded vigorously. Before he could say anything there was a soft tap at the door and it opened to allow a slim young asian man to peer around the corner. “Excuse me for interrupting, but Lady Chaos.. there’s a young woman here who insists on seeing you. She..”
A hand suddenly smacked the door wide open and the young man staggered back in surprise. Chill strode into the room and glared around at the assorted shocked faces all riveted to her. She paused as her gaze passed over Lex, taking in his tattoos and collar, then again as she saw Bull and Reese. With a snort she turned and looked at Chaos, her gaze taking in the full image.
“I take it you’re supposed to this long lost mother who forgot about me?” she asked coldly, staring at Chaos.
Chairs scraped away from the table as several of them stood up at the tone of her voice, but no one said anything, and no one moved against her. Chaos stared back at her just as intently. After a moment, she let out a sad sigh and shook her head. “No, I’m not.” she said, staring the younger woman down. “You’re not my daughter.” She turned to face the others. “She’s not Regan.”
“ Are ye’ bloody, daft, woman?! Look at ‘er! She’s th’ spittin image…!” Nate sputtered, quickly recovering from the shock of seeing what was close to being a mirror image… especially if Chaos had worn her leathers today. Instead, she was wearing a charcoal grey pantsuit with a icy blue silk blouse beneath the fitted jacket. Her hair, rather then in its usual pony tail, was done up in a twist, holding all but a few stray strands back.
The young woman facing her looked more like Chaos then she did at the moment. Leather pants, halter and boots so tight they could’ve been painted on, covered by a flowing leather coat, all done in the darkest black. A black leather choker encircled her throat and what looked like giant crystal snowflakes hung on the choker and the center of her halter, as well as dangled from her ears. Her hair was just as pure white as Chaos’s only hers hung straight and loose, and her eyes were a pale cold blue that sent shivers through you just to look at. In her human form, Chaos’s own eyes were only a touch darker..
But more then the similar looks between them, the way she stood and held herself was almost identical. Bull had been right when he had described the likeness as ‘eerie’… and Reese had been right when he described her as ‘scarey.’.. there was an intensity to her that reminded them all of Chaos just before a fight…
Saffron was the first to move to stand beside Chaos. He looked from Chaos to Chill then back again. "Chaos... are you sure? I mean... she certainly looks like you. I mean... you haven't seen her since she was three..."
Lex was standing, leaning against the table staring at the woman. He might of been shocked that Saffron was the first to talk to Chaos aside form Nate, but he couldn't seen to stop staring at the young woman glaring at them all.
"She's not my daughter. I'd know Regan.. I'd recognize her... this isn't her." Chaos repeated and looked at chill one last time before turning and walking to the door. "Excuse me. "she said before leaving.
The others just stood or sat in various stages of shock. Chill looked from the doorway that was now empty aside from the young receptionist she'd follwed up here, and cast her gaze around the room. She gave a snort as her gaze once again stopped at Bull, who was slouched rather low in his seat. "What a joke." she muttered and turned to go.
"Wait." Saffron said, reaching a hand out to block the doorway. She turned a cold look on him, but he didn't move. "Don't go. Chaos is.. well she'll come around. When my dad.... when OUR dad get's back, he'll take care of her." he bite the inside his cheek for a moment then held out his hand, obviously determined to try and accept yet another family member. "I'm Saffron Azreal, your half brother. The red head there is your other brother, Lex. "
Chill stared at Safforn for a moment, ignoring his hand, then turned to look at Lex, who still stood against the table staring at her. She gave another soft snort.
Nate cleared his throat, drawing her attention. "I'm Nate MacDonnell, this is m' fiancee Aiyla. Tis a pleasure t' meet y', Regan."
Chill ignored his hand as well. "My name's not Regan. It's Chill."
"Sorry we're all so... shell shocked, ..Chill. It's just that... like Nate said, you're the spitting image of your mother.." Rue managed to get out.
Chill turned and looked them all over again, her gaze seemingly caught between disdainful and bored. "She's not my mother."
They all watched as she turned and left the room in much the same manner as Chaos had before her.
Charli gave a low whistle as he watched her go. "I had no idea attitude was hereditary... "
Reese just tilted his chair back and propped his feet up on the table. "See? Told you... scar- rey...."
_____________
Chill sat in the chair in the kitchen, coffee cup in hand and stared coldly at the two young men sitting across from her. The room, although warm enough when they entered was now rather chilly, although Chill didn't seem to mind in the least. Not surprising since the cold air seemed to be rolling off of her. "Alright."she said in that bored sounding tone. "You dragged me in here... say what you want to say so I can go back to New york and forget this entire wasted joke of a day."
The cold hardly bothered Saffron, who stared back at her, trying to put together what it was he wanted to say, he was vaguely aware Lex was shivering, and silent. "Look, I realize this isn't exactly easy, hell, you weren't the only who didn't grow up with our parents." Saffron said. "But I kinda suggest you wait around for dad, and maybe he can explain it better."
"He's not my dad. You're not my brother.. neither of you. This is all very interesting and all, but you got the wrong girl." Chill turned her gaze to Lex and noticed the shivering. She smirked slightly and turned back to Saffron. "He doesn't say much... he okay?"
"He's the shy one." Saffron answered, with a slight tone, but glanced at Lex anyway. Lex turned his glance with a look, before digging in his pocket for his pack of cigarettes, removed one, realized his lighter was missing, and used his abilities to light it anyway, before actually speaking. "You don't remember anything about your past, right? So who's to say who's right on this and that your not our sister. Personaly, I'd want to be sure of it." He said softly, but not exactly looking at her.
Chill watched the flame for a moment. "So you'd rather accept a stranger as your sister without proof,,, then let her deny it because there's no proof? " she asked, watching him studiously avoid her gaze while still trying to look at her. She gave a snort and turned back to Saffron. "Alright, fine.. if I play along... what are you, then. Or are there just the two of us elementals in the family?"
"I never said with out proof..." Lex muttered. "I said..." He trailed off. Saffron frowned, then looked at Chill. "No, all three of us are elementals, as well as 'our' dad. I just don't do deminstrations." He replied simply.
She smirked. "Didn't ask for a demonstration, did I, smart ass?" she turned back to Lex. "And you might not have said without proof, but that's what your doing. All you have is that fact that you THINK I look like her.. hardly proof."
"I'm the death elemental, okay. There's only one at all times." Saffron replied slightly hard.
"No, what I was saying, was maybe you should stick around to see if there was any more proof." Lex tapped the ashes off his cigarette. "But obviously if you don't want to, no body can make you." He replied softly, finally looking up up at her.
"Damn it Lex!" Saffron growled.
"Stick it, flower boy." Chill said, smiling slighty at Lex. "Red has a right to talk to to his big sis too. Alright, I'll give you that.. maybe I should stick around and see if there's any truth to this. After all, it's not like I have any proof that i'm not, right?"
"What've you got to loose?" Lex returned with a shrug. "And everything to gain if it is."
Saffron glared at her. "Flower boy, boy that's original." He replied sarcastically with a snort. "I've been called many things, but never quiet that. Bravo. Don't kick me, Lex." Lex had kicked him in the leg under the table. Lex just gave him a look in return, although there might have been a trace of humor in his green eyes.
"I was being nice. I could've called you worse." she said calmly. "So, you said I wasn't the only one who grew up alone, huh? Well I can't say I was alone, because I don't remember. Obviously you do. So were you two kidnapped away before the spell hit too?"
Lex shook his head, eyes back on the table. "It's complicated." He said softly. "Kay's not our mother. Saffron was raised by dad until he was nine, I was born and raised in Abandon's domain, as his slave." He gave the short verson, before taking a drag of his cigarette and tapping the ashes off.
"After the spell, dad and Kay were...seperated and didn't remember each other...dad met our mom, I guess it was planned that way." Saffron replied as calmly as possible.
"Pretty fucked up, huh? So I was kidnapped, and red was kidnapped? And you were, what... ditched?" she asked calmy looking back at Saffron. "what do you mean , 'planned that wy'.. you make it sound like whoever kidnapped 'me' and hit them with this spell, did it so he'd go screw someone else and wind up with you."
"That's exactly what he meant." Lex answered. shifting in his chair. "The guy who had the spell cast, and did your kidnapping set it up that way, because of a prophecy..."For some reason he felt a little recluctant to talk about this. "And I wasn't exactly kidnapped, our mother, was put in Abandon's realm, in hell, for the soul purpose that I'd end up his slave." He gestured to the collar snubbing out the cigarette. "As long as Abandon had me, he was free to wander around...Saffron and I are the key and lock that keeps him sealed up, but that's a whole other story."
"What Lex means, is Honnor Knight, the guy responsible for all this, wanted complete control of the events to make him all powerful. Kay and...you were in the way, so to say, so he had the spell cast, erased them from each others memory and the memory of you...or their daughter."
Chill raised an eyebrow. "Oh I see... so basically, it's kinda of your fault I was kidnapped, huh?" she said, staring at Saffron. "Afterall, if you hadn't of ben so important to this guy, i'd have grown up happy and normal, right?"
"The only person's fault it is, is Honnor Knight's, so don't blame me, and definitely, do NOT blame Lex." Saffron said with a cold tone. "You may have grown up with out Kay and dad, but you didn't have it HALF as bad as Lex did!:"
"Saffron, shut up." Lex muttered.
"What the fuck, Lex? You'd rather her blame you?!" Saffron snapped.
"I never said that..." Lex mumbled.
"Calm the fuck down." she said, swinging her foot under the table to kick his leg, sending a jolt of cold up it. "I'm just screwing with you. Course I'm not gonna blame you.. you weren;t even fucking BORN yet, you dip shit."
Saffron rubbed his leg with a look. "He's an idiot." Lex muttered. "But I told you it was complicated..."
"Complicated isn't even the word for it." Saffron growled. "Things are still unraveling about the whole thing, and now it rather seems it had more to do with holding Lex in control then the rest of us."
"We're not getting into that." Lex snapped suddenly.
"Oh joy .. brotherly love.. yaeh, kinda glad I missed out on th baby brother thing now... you guys must have a real hoot when you were younger.. specailly you." she said to Saffron.
"Wouldn't know." Saffron replied darkly. "I spent my life from the age of nine, becoming Azreal. Honnor Knight's rival LiVed, king of the black court, kidnapped me, and made me his assassin. Lex of course was still Abandon's slave until he was 19."
"We didn't know we even had a brother until a few months ago." Lex added.
Chill snorted. "What is it with this family and kidnapped kids? Damn, they're not planning on having more, are they? Cause.. that's just asking for trouble.."
"I doubt it. " Lex replied.
"Yeah, well, now they're trying to work past all that. They've spent a lot of time searching for you. But the people we mentioned, did a good job of keeping it that way." Saffron replied, eyeing her.
Chill snorted again, looking away from them and looking at her halfful coffee cup that she'd been playing with th entire time. She gave a sniff before tilting her head to one side and looking back at Saffron. You know , Petals, the makeup the whole dark gothy thing, .. is doesn't work on you. Him, it works on.. him it BELONGS on. he looks awesome.. you .. i see you as more... preppy."
Saffron glared. "Him, it's just used to cover up the fact the collar doesn't come off." He replied with a tone. 'But I suppose looking more like a preppy is better then looking like THAT." He remarked, nodding back to her.
"Saffron..." Lex hissed.
"No seriously, if you want to look like a trashy b movie extra, go right a head. DO NOT HIT ME AGAIN, LEXINE!" Saffron suddenly snapped, shoving Lex. Lex had smacked him severly upside the head.
"You have a severe case of sticking your foot up your ass, Saffron. Shut the fuck up for a while." Lex hissed
Chill sat calmly watching the two. She wondered howlong it would take Petals to notice how cold his feet were getting.. Probaly wouldn't pay it any mind until he tried to stand up and discovered he was pretty much attached to the floor. "Yo, Petals.. shut the fuck up and leave Red alone. As for the 'trashy 'b' movie look... look in the mirror. It works for me.. it doesn't work for you."
"You're not making this any easier, Saffron so just let it be." Lex muttered, getting up with the intention to take his full coffee cup to the sink. He glanced down as he pushed his chair back and noticed a trail of ice. He glanced at Chill with a raised eyebrow, far to use to ice elementals doing things like that, Xander probably would have done the same, if not worse. And he didn't really feel like bringing it to Saffron's notice, he just turned to the sink, shaking his head slightly.
"Knock off the names. What it is with you damn ice elementals and the aggravating names?" Saffron replied.
" Certain people just inspire us, I suppose. Practically DEMAND it." she said with a smirk and smiling slightly as Lex noticed what she was doing but didn't say anything. " What's this about another ice elemental? Do I take after dear old dad?"
"No, he's an illussion and time elemental." Lex replied, leaning against the counter and lighting another cigarette. "No, we have another ice lemental who hangs about, a 'friend' of sorts, Xander, also a former slave of abandons." Lex added.
"Fine vanilla ice," Saffron replied with a tone. "Whole sticks and stones thing anyway."
Chill raised an eye brow at Saffron. "Vanilla Ice? Cute. he was an ass, but the names cute. I like it." she turned back to Lex, wondering vaguely how thick his socks were... the ice had to of been three quarters of the way up his boots by now... "Cute guy, black hair and collar from upstairs, right? Yeah .. thought I picked up something there." she jerked her head towards Saffron. "He not get along with Petal's here, either?"
"Hard pressed to find some one to get along with a death elemental. The guy in the sunglasses, Sands, ya'd really like him...you and Sands could spend all day picking on Saffron." Lex replied, from his spot.
Saffron snorted, and started to stand, intentending to just leave, when he noticed the ice. "Do you mind?!" He growled, having to sat back down.
Chill smirked and shrugged. "Hey Red.. what do you say we ditch Petals and you give me the grand tour... he's too gloomy for me."
Lex shrugged. "Sure, why not." He finished his cigarette, and snuffed it out, moving toward the door.
"Lex..." Saffron growled. "You could help me out a bit here."
Lex looked back at him. "Course I could, but you need to...cool down anyway." He waited at the door way for Chill. Saffron glared at them both.
Chill smirked as she camly got up to set her mug in the sink and walked past Saffron, patting him on the head as she did so. "Later Petals." She winked at Lex as they left the kitchen. " She could hear Saffron yelling something from behind the closed door, but didn't pay attention. "Well, this has been fun, but I should leave. You're okay, Lex. I like you.. you I wouldn't mind having for a brother... but I'm really not into the whole' long lost family' thing. You guys really don't me around anyhow. Trust me, I'm just not a nice person."
Lex looked at her. He knew more then anything what it was like. "Look, I'm not about to tell you to stay, if you wanna go, go." He said with a shrug. "But if it's true, and you are Regan...you at least have a... family to come back to. If it's not true, no one's gonna hold it against you. And you're okay yourself. I think I'll leave him iced to the floor a while." He said, glancing back at the kitchen
"Well, as little brother you have the right to ignore big brother.. and as big sister, i have the right to pick on younger brother... so we have the right of way. He has no right to complain by family law." she said as they walked. " You know.. it's odd. I'm usually quite happy being a complete nasty bitch to everyone. But you.. " she shrugged. "Since I'm here, why don't you introduce me to this other ice elemental.. and this Sands guy too..."
"Sure, they're probably hanging around down stairs still." He nodded to the elevator, before pushing the button. He had a feeling Chill wasn't Regan, but he sort of liked her anyway. Well he liked anyone who could shut Saffron up when Saffron got started, cause when Saffron stuck his foot in it, he just never shut up.
Chill followed Lex and found herself in a large room stuffed with couches and chairs, big screen tv, little two seater tables with games on them.. at the far end she could see a pool table.. she noticed how quiet the room got when they entered and everyone turned to face them.
Xander and Sands were both at the pool table playing a round. Lex ignored everyone mostly, making his way over.
"Hey cupcake." Xander said with a grin, leaning over to take his shot. Lex gave him a look. Sands leaned against the table waiting for Xander to take his shot.
"What's up, Lexi." He said with a nod.
"This is Chill. Chill, Xander, the ice elemental. And that's Sands." Xander took his shot and raised up, looking Chill over, wasn't hard to recongize another ice elemental and he smirked. "Chill. Nice. Pleasuer t' meet ya." He said.
Sands nodded in reguards. "I get the feeling, that yelling upstairs, is Saffron and has something to do with you two." He said with a smirk. "What ya'd do?" He asked, before leaning over to take his shot.
"Attached him to the floor. Petal's isn't my favorite person." She said crossing her arms and eyeing Xander. A large lump of ice was forming on the tip of his pool cue as she spoke. The weight of it made it dip and caused him to look at it. He turned back to her. "Don't call him cupcake."
Sands was snickering as he stood from his shot, and glanced at Lex over the edge of his sunglasses to see the red head with a slight blush, but obviously amused.
"Well damn, it's just an affectionate pet name." Xander muttered, running his hand over the end of the pool cue, drawing the ice off.
"Yeah well, ya've been warned about it, haven't ya." Sands replied from his spot. He iked Chill, she had an attitude Sands respected.
Chill smirked."So.. never did ask.. what'd with this Lady Chaos crap. Her name's .. what did she say.. Clara..?" Chill moved over and hopped up to sit on the edge of a table. She glanced back at Sands, then looked up at the lights. "What's with the shades indoors... "
"Her name's Clarice..." Lex muttered, knowing that wasn't exactly her full given name, but he had sworn not to mention the other. "She doesn't take kindly to the name, and since she's half chaos demon..." He left that part hang. "Besides, mothers have this thing about names...I mean...take mine for instant...Lexine.."
Sands smirked and lowered his sunglasses a bit more, allowing his eyes to be seen, they were an unsual shade of golden brown, littered with red. "People tend to stare if I'm not wearing them. And when they stare, it makes them look stupid."
Chill turned her own gaze on him. "My eyes are just as freaky... they stare, I stare back.. they run away.. THEN they look stupid." She raised an eyebrow at Lex. "Demon? Lovely.. if it's true, explains the bitch factor nicely though wouldn't it.."
"Good point." Sands said with a smirk, "But it's impossible to get any answers out o them if all they do is stare."
"Sands, you don't get any answers out of them anyway, you have a habbit of shooting first, shooting some more, shoot again, and when everyone's dead, try and get an answer or two." Lex replied, Sands smirked.
"People are so much easier to deal with, when their dead." he said, leaning on his pool cue.
Lex rolled his eyes and turned back to Chill. "Well, at least you're not part fae."
"Actually.." Sands said. "she is.. not much, but Chaos is, there for..."
Chill smirked at them. "What's this fae shit?I feel like I'm missing something here..I don't like that feeling.. it makes me... not nice."
"Well there's more then one type of fae, ye got your leps, your faeries, your phoukas, your sprites, not to be confused with faeries, then ya got the elven fae...which is what Lex's mother was, and what my father is." Sands replied boredly. "A bit o' glitter in other words." He said with a slight smirk.
"Pain in the ass is more like it." Lex muttered, thinking more along the lines of what his mother was and what he'd ended up as. "Other wise, most elven fae are rather...fine." He added with a slight smile.
"In more ways then one from your point of view, eh, Lexi?" Sands asked with a slight smirk. Lex blushed slightly and shot Sands a look
"Wait wait wait.. fairies? Elves.. you're yanking, me, right?" she looked back and forth betwen the two. " Sands smirked and went back to studying the table. " shit.. you guys are actually serious, aren't you?" Chill shook her head. "This whole thing just gets weirder, dont it? I mean .. getting used to the whole werewolves and vampires thing was hard enough .. but now it's fairies and elves too?"
"If werewolves and vampires and demons and elementals exisit, chances are faeries and elves do to." Lex muttered, with a slight grin. Sands snickered, lighting a cigarette. "See, Sands here, is half elven, half vampire."
"It's my dad you gotta watch out for, daft bastard." Sands replied simply with out tone.
Lex snorted. "Most people are happy beliving all this is make believe."
"Which half is your dad that i'd have to watch out for him?" Chill asked. "Try aiming slightly more to the left.. no.. just a touch. Yeah, that'll do ya." She turned and glanced over her shouder at the others who were whispering quietly enough that she figured they were talking about her. She snorted and turned back to the guys.
Sands snorted as Xander gave her a look but took her advice on the shot. "That would be the elven half, oddly enough..."
Lex rolled his eyes and looked back at her. "Most elven fae tend to be... well... they take some getting used to. But Jasmine and Faal are both nice, and Estehl.. well.. Estehl's just crazy.. but he's nice too... at times.."
Xander gave a snort and he stood up and moved out of the way so Sands could take his shot. "You'll have to forgive Lex.. he's a tad... smitten with a certain fae... the way he says the name and the look on his face when he says it kind of gives that away.."
Lex blushed sitting up straighter."What?! How do I say his name? I don't say it any different then any other name..." he said scrunching his nose..."Do I?"
Sands chuckled. "Yes, you do... and you get this look on your face when anyone else says his name too..."
The nose scrunched more. "Liars." he said, but blushed fiercely just the same, wondering if it was true.. he really didn't think he did...
Chill smirked, and leaned over closer to him. "Smitten, hmmm? Say the name and let me hear... I won't lie to you."
"Err.. no." Lex said, blushing fiercely and garnering chuckles form all three. "I'll take their word for it... not that their trustworthy or anything..."
Chill glanced upward at a particularly loud thump and shout from upstairs. She gave a snort. "Shit... you'd have thought he'd have figured out all he had to do was take his damned boots off by now..."
Lex was glad for the distraction where Faal was concerned. He snorted, glancing at the ceiling. "Him? Chill, when he's mad, he has NO brains what so ever..."
Sands snickered from his spot, taking his shot, sinking the twelve ball in the far left pocket. "Nice shot..." Lex commented, catching it. Sands winked.
"Of course Saffron...he thinks he's hot shit..." Xander said conversationally. Lex rolled his eyes. Sands barked a laugh.
"Is that why he runs every time he sees my face?" Sands asked with a wicked smirk.
"No, that's because you threatened to cut his balls off with a chainsaw...and we know you can back that threat up." Lex replied, crossing his arms over his chest, and leaning against the table.
"Is that what I said?" Sands asked still smirking.
Lex shook his head. "Saffron seems to have a thing for Sands younger sister, Alandra...Sands caught Saffron kissing her not to long ago and held him suspended over the roof for a hour..."
Chill raised an eyebrow, eyeing Sands. "Had him blubbering like a baby." Sands said cheerfully.
"Sure, any one about to be dropped five stories is going to be mewin' like a four year old who's got monsters under their bed." Xander replied, shaking his head and leaning on his cue.

Auron stood across the street of the Lion's Gate Inn for a moment, staring at the front of the building. He chuckled softly to himself. Lex had been coming to this pub for about three months. He'd made friends with the owner, a young woman he'd found he could talk to.
He'd told Auron about her, casually in coversation one day when Auron had asked why he liked the pub so much, inadvertedly giving Auron the information he'd been searching for. Auron hadn't quiet believed it when Lex had discribed her. Lex seemed oblivious to the obvious. All he saw in the young woman was a good friend.
So Auron had visted the pub a few times under illussion. And sure enough, on his first visit, he'd been nearly possitive. Not only did she look JUST like her, it was her open and friendly personaliy with pub regulars and good friends, it was the no hold bars toughness when a fight broke out, that clenched it.
He'd even watched her with Lex one night. The way they sat in the corner, the young woman comfortering him, just as a mother, or more importantly, a sister would after Rowen had harrassed him. He knew she walked him home some times and had become rather protective of him. He'd seen them in a fight that same night, against a group of vampires. She was a darkness elemental, with good control over her powers, something in her bordered on demon.
Auron had mulled it over for some time, until he could be absolutely sure. It wasn't a coidence that the young woman's name was Regan, either. She was going by the name Regan Jones.
Taking a breath, feeling his heart beating rapidly, he crossed the street and entered the pub. It was mostly empty this time of day. The young woman in question was be hind the bar, counting money. She looked up with a friendly smile.
"What can I get ya?" She asked as Auron approached the bar.
Auron smiled slightly. "Actually, Regan, I'd like to speak to you...in private."
Regan paused, in her counting and glanced up at him. For a moment, she studied him. "I dont' think I've seen you in here, care to tell me how you know my name?"
Auron continued to smile a bit. She looked just like her mother, just a beautiful. "That's a bit of what I'd like to speak to you about." Auron said softly, leaning on the bar toward her, picking up a bar napkin and began folding it into a shape.
Regan continued to stare him, something about this man nagged at her. Like she knew him, but she knew she'd never met him before in her life. And yet...she was inclined to trust him.
She watched him hold up a closed hand, watched as the fingers opened to reveal the paper crane in his palm. Her eyes widened as the wings began flapping. Her eyes widened even more as the crane became a butterfly. "H-how did you do that?" She breathed in a ragged whisper, looking up at him.
He was smiling warmly. "Illussion elemental... you've seen that before haven't you?" He asked softly.
She looked back at the butterfly as it shifted into blue and purples, it's wings still beating. "Yes..."
"Is there some where we can speak in privet, with out being interrupted, Regan and I'll explain everything." Auron asked.
Regan manged to nod, putting the money back in the till, shutting and locking it. "My office... Mike!" She called to the bar man by the juke box. "Can ya watched the bar for a few, I'll be in my office, but I don't want to be distrubed."
"No prob." Mike answered back moving toward the bar as Regan came around it.
"This way." She said, leading the way through a back door. Auron followed her down a short hall, and she opened a door in to a small but neat office, and turned on the lights. There was a couch against one wall and Auron moved over to sat on it. Regan stood by the door, staring at him. "Who are you?" She asked finally, breathless again.
"My name is Auron Mordant. You know my youngest son, Lexine." Auron started, and watched a geniune worry and concern cross Regan's face.
"Is Lex alright?" She asked, moving toward the desk.
"Lex is fine...it's you I'm here to speak about...do you remember your parents?"
Regan made a face, her heart was pounding uncontrolably. "I grew up in an orphanage, not even a good one at that." Regan replied with a cold tone. "I was told my mother abandon me when I was three."
Auron sighed, shaking his head. "Your mother didn't abandon you... you were taken from us." He said softly, looking at her.
Regan felt the color drain from her face, staring at him. She moved from leaning against the desk to sat on the edge of the couch facing him. "Us?" She squeaked.
Auron smiled softly, a touch sadly. "Your name is Regan Alexandria Mordant. You're my oldest daughter. Your mother and I have been looking for you for a long time."
Regan swallowed, "You're...you're my father... my mother..." Something dawned on her, an ancient memory, something from before the orphanage. "You! You made the butterflies!" She cried, feeling the tears stinging her eyes.
Auron nodded with a smile. "You used to love that..." He said softly, looking at the floor.
Regan ran her fingers through her hair, pulling the pony tail from her white hair, letting it tumble about her shoulders. She gave a shakey laugh. "All these years...My parents have been looking for me...Uncle Ronan always...he said the orphanage was wrong and my mother would find me some day..."
Auron took this in, but didn't question. "Well he was right...We've wanted to find you since remembering you..." He said softly.
"Remembering me?" Regan looked back at him. She studied him, remembering him from the butterfly memory, of course he looked older now, but still the handsome kind man who made the butterflies fly. Her father.
"I need to explain and it is complicated. When you were three and a half we took you to the sea side, your mother and I. We were watching you play along the beach, catching frogs. There was a man, named Honnor Knight..."
"I know this name..." Regan interrupted. "I'll explain that in a moment, go on please." She added, seeing his surprise.
"He and your aunt, who is a chaos demon, your mother's sister, showed up. With the intent to drive your mother and I apart. They cast a spell, erasing us from each other's memory, or hiding the memory of each other, and Shada took you. His reason was so that I would eventually meet Lexine's mother, for the soul purpose that Lillian would have Lexine..."
"But she ended up in Hell and he ended up a slave...Lex has told me his story..." Regan said softly.
Auron nodded. "I was married to Lillian, you have another brother, Saffron, who is four years older then Lexine. But even while married to Lillian, I knew it wasn't meant to be, that... I was in love with some one else." Auron said softly watching her. "Then when Saffron was three, I woke up to find Lillian gone. I wasn't even aware she was pregnant with Lexine... had I, I would have done every thing in my power to prevent Lexine from growing up the way he did."
"Did you raise Saffron alone then?" Regan asked, taking all this in.
"No...he was taken from me when he was nine." Auron answered softly. "I searched for him for years, but was led to believe he was dead...and he was led to believe I was dead."
"And my mother...who is she, where is she? What did she do?" Regan asked all at once.
Auron smiled softly. "Your mother... came into her hertiage, we'll say. She's part Chaos Demon and heir to her father's throne in Hell. Her name is Clarice or Lady Chaos... She owns Chaos Inc here in town..."
"Where Lex works!"
Auron nodded. "At the end of last year, several things, Knight's plan, finally fell into place, and he attempted to get his hands on Lex to use him. Lex was under Chaos'... your mother's protection, which brought me to them...your baby nephew...or well, we've adopted him, Devin...managed to break the spell over us, allowing us to remember we loved each other, and you...And since then we've been searching for you."
Regan sat back with a nervous laugh. "And all this time I've been right here... did...did Lex know who I was?"
Auron shook his head. "He had no idea... still doesn't... you're just a good friend, some one he can talk to. He told me about you, you see, and I visited a few times, to watch you... the more I watched you, the more I knew you were our Regan...you even look like your mother." He added with a smile.
She laughed again, tugging a lock of her white hair. "Oh so it's mom I get the hair from..." Auron nodded. She sighed. "I wondered why I felt so protective of the kid... so much like an older sister..." She shook her head ruefully.
Then she came off the couch. "I wanna see her! meet her! Can we go now?" She asked all excited.
Auron chuckled, standing as well. "If you want..." He eyed her curiously. "You just accept all this?" He asked softly seriously.
She was grabbing her jacket, and putting her hair back in a pony tail and looked back at him. "Yeah." She answered just as seriously. "May sound really funny to you, but...my intitution says it's the truth... and I've survived my entire life on my intitution...and... I remember you from the butterflies..." She suddenly surprised herself, by throwing her arms around him, hugging him.
Auron blinked in surprise, then found himself hugging her back, holding her, fighting back the rush of tears that threatened to spill. "You're right..." He said softly, a lump in his throat. "This feels right."
She let him go with a brilliant smile. "Don't it though...dad." ***
Chill was surprised by just how comfortable she was starting to feel. She actually really liked Lex, and Sands and Xander were pretty decent guys. For the first time in as long as she could remember, she didn't feel like she was in the middle of a battle field needing to constantly be on the offensive. She caught another round of glances from the peanut gallery and shot them a glare that had them all turn around and look any where but at her. Lex's giggle made her smirk, knowing the kid had seen. "Look... this is great and all... but, this isn't me. I mean..." Chill sighed and rolled her eyes upward, pointing at the ceiling. "I'm not this Regan chick you guys are looking for. I don't care if I look like the lady's twin, okay... she's not my mother." Lex sighed and glanced over at the group by the tv. "Yeah... I know... it just doesn't... 'feel' right. " He suddenly blushed. "Oh.. I didn't mean .. I mean.." Chill laughed softly. "Relax...I agree completely. You're a great kid, Lex, and if I do have a brother out there... I hope he's like you." "But he's not me." Lex said with a sheepish look. "Nah... I don't think he's you." Chill said softly and turned to Xander and Sands. "Nice meeting you guys... if i'm ever in town, maybe I'll give you a shout and we can hang out and piss off the idiot, freak people out... you know.. cause some mayhem..." "Sounds like a plan." Xander said with a smirk and offered his hand. Chill eyed the hand for a moment before taking it and grinned as they had a brief impromptu contest to see who could ice over the others hand first. A 'brief' contest that could have gone on for a very long time if Sands hadn't interupted by elbowing Xander aside. He held out his own hand, ignoring the cold as he shook Chill's hand firmly. "Make sure you keep in touch... never know when you might need some back up." A smirk lit up his face as he peered over his glasses at her. "With all that mayhem and everything.." Chill snorted, smirking softly. "Yeah sure, I'll leave my number with the kid." she said, nodding at Lex. "You're leaving? I though you were going to wait for dad...." Lex asked, leaning back against the table. "Nah... I know he's not my dad, Lex.. so do you and ... your mom, or what ever she is to you..." Chill routed in her pockets for a moment before finding a piece of paper and pen and quickly scribbled down a number. "Here. Don't loose that. You ever need me, give me a shout, alright?" Lex looked at the piece of paper for a moment before slipping it into his pocket. "Sure... same goes for you.. you still have the number, right?" Chill chuckled softly and rolled her eyes. "Oh yeah.. still have the number... I'm gonna go say goodbye to Petals and 'mom'. Maybe i'll even let him loose.... maybe." she said and reached out to ruffle Lex's hair. "Nice meeting you kid... take care, alright?" "It was nice meeting you too, Chill." Lex said. "I hope you find your real family." Chill looked at him for a moment then shrugged and started to walk backwards towards the elevator. "Maybe I will, maybe I won't... I'm cool either way." she said with a wink, then turned and yelled 'Boo' at the group on the couches as she passed by, making Bull jump. She chuckled softly as she waited for elevator, then turned to give Lex a final smirk before stepping inside. ***
Even though Chill had said she'd keep in touch, Lex wasn't sure whether to believe her or not. Saffron was still in the kitchen, ranting and raving, so obviously she had decided on not letting him loose after all. So Lex had left him there as well... as a matter of fact, almost everyone was avoiding the kitchen, so as not to laugh directly in his face.
Lex was wandering the hall heading for the archive, when he crossed through the down stairs reception to see his father come in. But he wasn't alone. "Regan!" He blinked in surprise, going over.
Regan beamed, grabbing the red head into a hug. "Hey shortcake!" It was a varation of Xander's pet name, but Regan had been calling him Shortcake for awhile and Lex found he didn't really mind it from her. "How's my baby brother?" She asked, still beaming.
Lex blinked, a wide eyed innocent look, then looked at his father with the same expression. "Do you mean...?"
Auron nodded with a smile. "Your Regan, is really your sister, Regan." He said softly.
"Makes sense don't it?" Regan asked as Lex pulled back from the hug.
"Yeah..." Lex answered in a whisper, before turning against the wall, with closed eyes, then hit the wall with his fist. "Fuck! All this time!"
"Yeah, and that doesn't mean you can beat yourself up... all this time, is time, it's in the past." Regan said seriously, pulling him away from the wall.
"Yeah, but...if I'd known..." Lex looked at her with a miserable expression.
"If you'd known what? You needed a good friend, I needed a little brother, that's why I adopted you. Now it's offical." Regan said with a smirk. Lex opened his mouth and Regan held up a hand. "No, don't even. Consider the fact that you found me, kiddo. Mom and dad have you to thank for that...am I right?" She looked at Auron, still holding Lex about the shoulders.
Auron nodded. "Yes, we do, Lex..." He reached over touching the red hair of his youngest son. "Thank you, and I know Clarice will be wanting to thank you as well."
"So where's the other brother?" Regan asked.
Lex gave a shaky laugh. "Uh...in the staff kitchen...Chill sorta froze him to the floor..."
"Ah...yes...the young woman Bull found. Aiyla mentioned something about her when she called earlier..." Auron said with a nod and had to smirk slightly.
"He's still there." Lex said. "And I don't think he'd be to happy to see me."
"Oh well?" Regan asked with a smirk. "Lead the way..."
Lex snorted. "Alright..." He led the way, with Regan' still holding him by the shoulders and Auron on his other side ot the staff kitchen.
Saffron was just pulling his feet from his boots swearing up a storm when they appeared. "A lot of fuckin' help you are, Lexine!" He growled.
"You needed to cool off." Lex replied calmly as he could.
'Yeah well. Who the fuck's this? Another one?" Saffron sneered, seeing Regan. "Hi dad...See what Lexine allowed?"
Auron shook his head. "I was under the impression you earned it." Auron replied evenly. "As for who this is. This is Regan."
'Regan who?" Saffron snorted.
"Regan, as in your big sister." Regan replied with a wicked smirk that looked so familiar.
Saffron snorted again. "Yeah, right..."
Regan gave a laugh. "You'll see..." She said in a sing song tone. She turned to Lex and Auron. "So where's mom?"
"In her office. I think she was talking to Faal. She and Rue just got back...She's a bit...moody..." Lex said. "Things with Chill...well she knew Chill wasn't... you."
"Well lets go see if we can cure the mood." Regan said with a smirk. "I know all about being moody...most be the demon in me." She added with a wink. Auron chuckled.
They found themselves out side Chaos' door. Lex could hear Faal's voice and fought not to blush. He knew Regan would know all about Faal...she was one of the only people he could talk to about the fae.
Lex started to knock, then looked at Regan and Auron. Auron indicated Lex should knock. "You found her, Lex." He said softly. "You introduce her." Regan gave him a confident smile and a little push.
Lex took a deep breath and knocked on the door. It took a moment, then he heard Chaos' tired voice bidding who ever it was to come in. "Um...wait here just a moment." Lex said softly to Regan who nodded.
Then Lex stepped into the room, closing the door behind him. Chaos was leaning against the desk. Faal was siting in a chair near by. "I don't mean to interrupt..." Lex said, blushing darkly, and looking at the floor. "But um...there's some one here you should meet Kay..."
"Not another one..." Chaos muttered, shaking her head, then sighed. "Lex, I appericate what you and the others are trying to do for me and your father, but..."
Lex had taken a breath and cut her off. "That's just it...dad's with her..."
He saw Chaos faulter and raise an eyebrow. He took another breath. "Appearently...um...I'd found her a few months ago...but...just didn't know it...until today..."
"How? Where?" Chaos asked with a slightly despert tone.
"Um...you know that pub I've been going to. The Lion's Gate Inn?" Lex asked softly, still blushing.
"The one where you've been spending the nights I've had to work late at?" Faal asked, getting up from his chair, crossing to Lex's side, he slipped an arm around the red head's waist.
"Yeah...well...Regan owns the pub...and...' Lex sighed deeply. "I never even made the connection of her name...I knew her name was Regan...but it never even occured to me..." He said finally looking at Chaos sheepishly.
Chaos was making herself remember to breath. "No...it's okay, Lex." She said softly coming away from the desk. "Really...it is...you said she's...here...with Auron?"
Lex nodded. "Dad went and spoke to her...explained everything..." Lex pulled away from Faal for a mometn, going back over to the door and opening it.
Auron came in first, turning to look back at the door with a soft smile. "It's alright to be nervous..." He spoke to the person in the hall.
They heard a nervous little laugh. "I'm not nervous..." Came an obvious lie. Then Regan stepped into the room.
Chaos and Regan stared at each other. The resemblence was obvious, except Regan had Auron's dark blue eyes. And Regan's intitution was right, every gut instinct in her telling her this was real, this was her family. She took a breath, managing a slight smile. "Hi mom...I hear you've been looking for me..." She said softly.
Chaos gave a shaky laugh now, which sounded so much like Regan's. She momentarily blinded by the tears and hasitly wiped them away. "Regan...baby...it is you..." she moved forward. Regan threw herself into her mother's arms, hugging her.
Auron leaned agaisnt the desk beaming, watching his wife and daughter. Lex had gone back to Faal's side, who'd slipped his arm back around the fire elemental's waist. Lex gave a soft sniffle, but was smiling and turned himself to lean against him, resting his head against Faal's shoulder.
AFter a moment, Chaos held Regan out at arms lenght, looking her over. "You've grown..." She said with another laugh.
Regan gave a laugh of her own. "You do that in thirty six years." She said, looking her mother over herself. "Gods...I look just like you...down the hair..." SHe said, touching her mother's hair.
"You've got your father's eyes though..." Chaos observed. Then she pulled her into another hug, letting the tears flow. One hand reached out and grabbed Auron's arm, pulling him over as well.
Auron chuckled, hugging them both. He kissed both on the top of their heads.
Chaos heard soft footsteps moving toward the door and she turned, pulling away slightly, to see Lex and Faal near the door. "No, Lexine, you stay put." She said strongly. "You too Faal." She reached out, taking a hold of Lex's arm gently and pulled him to her, letting go of Regan and Auron a moment. She hugged Lex in a tight but gentle hug. "Thank you, baby, so much..." She whisperd softly. She felt Lex crying softly, and tipped his chin back, to look at him, smiling warmly. "Lexi, my son...I'll never be able to thank you enough..."
Lex wiped his cheeks off, and gave a squeak with a shrug. Chaos turned to Faal. "And you..." she pulled him into a hug.
"Me? What did I do?" Faal asked with surprise.
Chaos laughed. "As if you have to ask..."
The door opened up again, Saffron entered. He took a breath. "So it's true this time?" He asked, swallowing.
Auron nodded. "It's true."
"Damn...wow...shit...this is difficult..." Saffron muttered, shaking his head, looking at Regan, who was leaning against Auron.
"Perhaps I should go...I'll see you later, Little Flame..." Faal said softly after Chaos had released him.
She started to open her mouth, but Regan answered. "No...You're Faal right? Lexi has spoken of you quiet a lot." She said, to the blushes of both Faal and Lex. "I've wanted to meet the man who's made my little brother so happy." She said with a smile.
"It's a pleasure and honor to finally meet you, Regan." Faal replied with a smile himself.
"So what...it doesn't bother you that Lex is...and they're..." Saffron said, looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
Regan snorted. "That Lex has the killer looks I know women who'd kill for? That he's much more a girl then a boy? That he's in love with and sleeping with a rather damn fine looking gentleman?" She snorted again, aware Faal was blushing even more, possibly more so then Lex. "Hell no. Lexine is who he is. He's an incredibly beautiful, intelligent and cultured young man who's also very innocent. It's his innocence that makes him so beautiful." Regan said seriously, with a smile.
Saffron seemed momentairly confused and muttered an I guess.
"So...have you always owned a pub?" Chaos asked, moving back to her daughter's side.
Regan gave a laugh. "Hardly. I've only owned The Lion's Gate for a couple years... I was...a Tomb Raider before that." She admitted with a crafty but sheepish smile. God this felt good. This felt right. This was her family.
