Aiyla slid
on the stiletto heel and shook her head, glancing at her reflection in
the mirror. It had been quite shocking that morning, to get the call,
and have him accept the bet. But she had her suspicions that he'd had
his alterative motives for accepting, which amused Aiyla, because she
had, had alterative motives for making the bet in the first place.
For
one, she wanted him to take a little more consideration in his
appearance, and find something he was comfortable in. Okay, true, a
skirt was outrageous, but Aiyla knew the only way he'd take the bet was
to actually put in some planning as to what to wear around the skirt.
There
were two conditions to the bet. The first was how long it would take
for their significant other to not be able to keep their hands off of
them. He had challenged that Aiyla would loose, but Aiyla pointed out
that she wasn't dealing with such a gentleman.
The second
condition of the bet was the first with fifteen full compliments about
being in the skirt, won. This Aiyla judged was up for grabs.
And
so, at six thirty in the morning, when Lexine had rang her up and said
he accepted the bet, Aiyla was both a bit surprised and highly amused.
"I
should be worried..." She muttered to herself with a slight grin. But
even she had to admit, she couldn't wait to see the other's reactions
over Lex.
She hadn't told Nate about the bet. She hadn't told him what she wearing either...
*** She
entered the offices, wearing an extremely short black skirt and black
thigh highs, to which the lace of the thigh highs were just visible
under the hem of the skirt. She had on a white sweater that cut off at
the midriff and the stilettos no doubt put her at eye level with most
of the men in the building.
She noticed there wasn't really
anyone else there yet and wondered if Lex was avoiding the temperary
offices. But she turned the corner and spotted a pair high heels
crossed at the ankles with back seam stockings, just around the corner
where Sylvie's desk could be found and Aiyla had the feeling those were
not Sylvie's shoes.
So she approached the corner slowly. "Nice shoes..." She remarked lightly.
Lex
started, having been looking at a magazine and not really pay
attention. He drew back his legs, femininely moving them. "Thank you.
Two years old and never been worn." He replied, noting Aiyla had leaned
up against the corner and wasn't quite coming around yet.
"Don't tell me they're really yours..." She said incredulously.
"Who
do you think I would have borrowed them from on such late notice? Yus,
they're mine...You'd be surprised what’s in my closet...in fact this
whole out fit was..."Lex replied, looking at the black high heels he
was wearing a moment.
He stood up, and in doing so, smoothed
out the skirt he was wearing, before leaning up against the other side
of the corner. After the night he'd had, he was still on a high and
there for was quiet enjoying the whole thing, including getting dressed
in the first place.
And everyone's reaction would be worth it, in Lex's opinion, some more then others.
The
skirt wasn't anything outrageous, just a simple black slim skirt, about
an inch and a half above the knees. Something a secretary would wear.
But he'd gone almost all out. There were the black high heels, the
black back seam stockings, the white silk blouse and a single string of
pearls.
He'd even done his make up, and his hair was in a
French braid. And to be totally honest, he wished he'd had a pair of
pearl earrings, and had to giggle at that thought.
"Enjoying this, are you?" Aiyla asked, still on her side of the corner, but her tone was obviously amused.
"Oh...yus...I
was just thinking...I didn't have any pearl earrings, which is a shame,
cause my silver hoops just don't work with the outfit." Lex giggled.
"Hmm,
I don't think I’ve got any pearls, but you might check with Sylvie or
maybe Kay..." Aiyla said. Then added. "Are you going to stand there all
day, or what, Lexine?"
Lex leaned around the corner slightly
and saw Aiyla leaning her shoulder against the wall, arms crossed. He
took in her ultra short black skirt and midriff white top and actually
giggled. "Right, this is going to be an interesting day..." He said
with a smirk as he stepped around the corner, to allow Aiyla to fully
see him.
Aiyla's
light green eyes widened and she covered her red lips with her fingers,
giggling. "Oh Lexi!" She cooed, looking him up and down. She watched
him began to blush, and reached out. "Oh no luv! Damn!" Aiyla giggled
more. "You look really cute...and it's so you!"
She bounced
around him, looking him up and down from all angles. Yes, it was
definitely Lex. If you didn't know Lex, and know he was a young man, he
quiet simply looked like a young female student or secretary.
"Oh
yes...today is definitely going to be an interesting day." Aiyla added
with an evil smirk "At lunch, we so have to go see Candy and see if
Jasmine's around. Jasmine'll LOVE to see you dressed like this..."
"Well only if it gets me a few compliments." Lex replied with a smirk.
"Ooh,
don't think you're going to win THAT easily, boy'o. You still have to
ACT like a girl in that skirt, before you can get the compliments."
Aiyla replied with challenge.
"As if I couldn't act like a girl if I wanted to." Lex replied back with a mock tone.
"Then
start acting, cause I hear some one coming..." Aiyla said, indeed
hearing footsteps coming down the hall. She looked over her shoulder.
Lex
stifled his giggles, nervously smoothed out the skirt again and looked
over Aiyla's shoulder as she came to stand beside him. "I just hope
it's not Eire yet..." Lex muttered in
a giggle to Aiyla, shifting demurely on the heels and dropped his hand
from playing with the ring on the collar about his neck, which was a
nervous habit.
"Relax, Lex..." Aiyla replied with a hiss. "I
really love the make up too, but you're right...you need a pair of
pearl earrings..." "Wha' about pearl earrings?" Xander Caine slinked
around the corner and stopped dead. Standing in front of him was Aiyla,
looking drop dead sexy in a slinky black skirt and white top and a red
head who...
Xander did a double take and his dark blue eyes
widened. "Cupcake?!" He began to grin deviously, looking Lex up and
down. Lex looked stellar in the skirt, he had the legs to flaunt. But
still it was a surprise. And he caught Lex's dark look for the nickname
and quickly said. "I'm sorry, Lex...er...ya look...well damn...who'da
thunk it?" He asked, still grinning, and sauntering toward them.
"Well
actually, both of ya look...just...damn!" Xander held his hands
together in a gesture. He just didn't have the words, although his
smirk must have said it all.
Then his nose twitched and he
detected a soft floral scent, something that was tantalizing and
alluring, and the scent only got stronger when he leaned toward Lex.
Xander's eyebrow quirked more and his grin slipped up a notch and he
watched Lex began to flush, but he said. "Lexi...with a perfume like
that...if you don't drive half the men in this building up the wall,
I'll be surprised..."
Leaving Lex to blush about that, Xander leaned toward Aiyla. "Are you wearin' perfume?"
"Of
course I am." Aiyla replied with a giggle and patted Xander on the
head. Xander the detected that most exotic scent Aiyla liked to wear
and inhaled, giving a playfully pouty look. Aiyla just giggled more.
Xander
stepped back and eyed them both again. He had the feeling he'd be
sticking around. Although he did remember exactly why he was there
today. Sylvie...
Then he noticed what Aiyla had meant about the pearl earrings. "She's right, Lexi...silver hoops with pearls?"
"We'll
have to see what we can do about getting you some pearl earrings, Lex."
Aiyla said, before taking the red head's arm. One hardly noticed the
collar, even if the collar shouldn't have gone with such a feminine
outfit, Lex in the outfit alone, drew the attention away from the
collar.
Aiyla swatted his hand away from the collar ring as he
went to finger it nervously. She gave him a grin and began escorting
him down the hall toward the break room. "Come on Xander...I know
you're looking for Sylvie..."
"Wha!? No I'm not!" Xander
replied quickly, but trotted along behind them, having no problem
keeping up with the two pairs of heels. Aiyla even watched him glance
at Lex's feet to be sure Lex was wearing heels. "Damn...how'd ya get
yer seams so bloody straight, Lex?" Xander asked, looking at the back
of Lex's legs.
Even Aiyla glanced. "I don't usually wear back
seam stockings due to the inability to keep the seams straight...but
damn, he's right Lex...those are straight..." Aiyla led Lex into the
kitchen, with Xander in tow. Everyone was just only arriving, so there
was coffee. She let Lex make a beeline straight for the pot and
chuckled, leaning herself against the counter.
She realized
Lex was carrying a clutch purse, which must have his make up and
cigarettes. and indeed, after pouring a cup of coffee, he took a
cigarette and lighter out of the bag. Aiyla watched as he lit the
cigarette and suddenly she laughed out right. Even the way he lit the
cigarette was feminine. "You're gonna break some hearts today, Lexi..."
She said with a giggle.
Lex
slid onto the counter behind him, crossed his legs demurely and looked
at Aiyla, half coy, half serious. "I haven't the slightest idea what
you're talking about..." He said softly.
"Oh don't you?" Aiyla laughed, then shook her head. "You'll see Lexi, you'll see..."
They heard more footsteps in the hall, heading their way.
"My
lord, I do believe some one beat me to the coffee maker this morning!"
A cheerful voice sounded and Sylvie appeared in the doorway. She
spotted Aiyla first and gave the outfit a rather critical eye. "You
look lovely, Aiyla... but I don't think that's hardly fitting for the
office." She added with a glint in her eye, and they could see the
corners of her mouth fighting to smile. "I do hope it's your day off
and you're merely here to torture the men."
Xander gave a
cough at that, and she noticed him standing there. She gave a sigh, the
smile vanishing. "Xander... is there something I can do to speed you on
your way?" she asked as she stepped past him heading to the coffee
maker.
Seeing the red head perched demurely on the counter she
stopped. "Oh.. excuse me.. " Suddenly her eyes popped open. "Lex?!" She
took in the whole outfit and a smile broke out on her face. "You look
gorgeous!" She turned and cast a look at Aiyla, pointing back to Lex.
"Now THAT is suitable clothing for the office.. and he still looks
ravishing. You my dear, can take some fashion tips from this young man."
Sylvie
poured a cup of coffee then noticed Lex's earrings. "Lex darling, your
earrings don't match... " She took a sip then set her cup down,
reaching up to unfasten her own pearl drop earrings. They were her
favorites.. a birthday gift from Michael years ago.. but she knew he'd
approve of the loan. She handed them over. "Return these."
Lex bit his lip, but took the earrings. "Yus, I will. Thank you..." He gave Sylvie a small smile.
"He
does look darling, doesn't he?" Aiyla gushed, and spotted Xander's
slight pout in the corner, she shook her head. "Actually Sylvie, it
isn't my day off. But it's a bet, you see, between Lex and I...and I
couldn't very well let him do this alone." Aiyla winked.
Lex
hopped off the counter, gracefully to his feet, switched the hoops for
the pearls and gave Aiyla a look. "I have other reasons for accepting
this bet." He said airily. Xander snickered from his spot. "And none of
them have to do with you Xander..."
"Well I didn't think they did, really..." Xander said with a look.
Lex
actually smirked slightly in Xander's direction, as he turned to pick
up the clutch bag, to put his silver hoops in it, so as not to loose
them.
"We're
HOME!!" Reese yelled as he entered the kitchen, Bull hot on his heels.
"Any one miss us? We heard about all the fun you guys had without us...
took forever to find this place too..." He ran appreciative eye's up
and down Aiyla. "Damn!" He said, leaning against the wall beside her.
"I DO hope you work here... I would LOVE to see you EVERYday.."
Sylvie smacked him on the head. " Reese.. this is Aiyla, she's Nate's girlfriend.. you met briefly before..."
Bull squeezed past him and stopped, noticing the red head with 'her' back to him.
He
turned and wiggled his eye brows at Reese with a smirk, jerking a thumb
in 'her' direction. Rolling his shoulders and clearing his throat he
stepped up beside 'her'. "Hey beautiful, you look fabulous... " *
please don't be a dog.. you look too fabulous from back here..* he
thought, looking down as 'she' turned around. He slowly raised his eyes
as he spoke, fingers crossed behind him. *so far so good.. * "I'd love
to take ya out some... wow..." He found himself staring into the most
gorgeous eyes he'd ever seen. He cocked one eyebrow, hearing someone
snigger behind him.. "you look very familiar.. do I know you?"
Lex
inclined his head, not wanting to look at Bull, but smiled shyly.
"We've met...yus..." There was a coyness to the shyness and he looked
back at Bull while grabbing his bag. "I'm Lex..."
He saw
Xander in a silent fit a giggles across the room and glanced at Aiyla
who was smirking herself but Aiyla was quick to come to Lex's 'rescue'
or was it Bull's. "and I believe HE'S got a boyfriend..."
Lex gave her a look as she slid past him, opened the refrigerator and wisely knelt to get a soda.
"Really,
thank you for the compliment and all, but maybe you should be a little
more careful who you hit on..."Lex said softly, with a half shy half
coy smile.
Bull
just stood there, watching Lex walk past. "He? but.. but..." He glanced
around the room and took in the looks and Xander's giggle fit, then
scratched his head. "He? Really? Damn... That's a shame... you're hot.."
Reese
cracked up laughing. "Dude you just hit on a guy.. and then told him he
was hot AFTER you knew he was a guy... damn .. I am NEVER letting you
live this down..."
Bull crossed his arms indignantly and
sniffed. "Well , did you check him out? He looks better in that skirt
then most of the women you date would." He turned and poured a coffee,
trying to ignore the blush he could feel burning his cheeks. "Hell,
he's prettier too." Someone patted his back and he turned to see Sylvie
with an odd looking smile, that was obviously an attempt at being both
comforting while holding in her laughter. "That's a good attitude to
have, Bull. Lex is a very attractive young man. And you certainly can't
tell he's a young man today...."
Sylvie sputtered and turned
trying to contain her laughter as she grabbed her coffee and hurried
out of the room... They could all hear her giggling as she headed for
the front desk.
Xander
watched Sylvie go, smirking, then looked back at the others. He leaned
toward Aiyla and said softly. "Its gonna be this way all day, isn't
it?"
"Oh yes..." Aiyla answered with a nod.
Xander chuckled again, and leaned back against the wall.
Aiyla opened her soda, and snickered, then patted Bull on the shoulder. "Look at it this way...at least you didn't hit on say...Eire
in drag." She winked. Then she looked at Reese. "And yes, I do work
here. But I belong to Nate, so." She winked again, grabbed Lex's arm
and started for the door.
"Come along Xander."
Xander
gave a little wave and followed the 'girls' out of the kitchen and down
the hall. Reese and Bull heard a muttered voice, an obviously painful
'OW!' and nervous giggle.
Aiyla had them wondering down the
hall toward Chaos' office, with the intent to find a place to have that
fag, and pretty sure, they'd be bound to run into some one along this
path. Xander was still tailing behind, but from time to time, he'd
glance over their shoulder in the direction of the lobby. Aiyla wasn't
surprised, but he'd have a lot of work to do to achieve his goal. She
snickered and glanced at Lex as she still had a hold of his arm, but
damn!
The boy could walk in this heels like a pro. "Where did
you learn to walk in heels so bloody well?" Aiyla asked finally,
stopping to look at him with an amused expression. She held out a hand,
stopping Xander from walking into them, because he was looking back
over his shoulder and not where he should.
"I didn't learn! It comes naturally!" Lex said with a laugh.
"Are
you telling me, you could walk that well in three inch heels the first
time you put them on?" Aiyla asked with a laugh of her own.
"Pretty much, yus..." Lex said after a moment's consideration.
"So you wear heels often?" Aiyla asked teasingly.
'No, definitely not..." Lex scrunched up his nose at that question.
"So why do you have heels?"
"Oh, well these were for a Christmas party.."
"A Christmas party? What kind of Christmas party?
"You don't wanna know..."
Aiyla
began laughing at that, having to lean up against the wall. After she'd
laughed for a moment or so, leaving Lex standing there with a smirk,
she pulled away from the wall again. "Remind me never to make this kind
of bet with you again..." Aiyla said with obvious humor.
"Oh, I don't know...it's kind of fun..." Lex said still smirking.
"Boy, some one must have had a good night..." Aiyla peered at him and saw the blush beginning to creep into Lex's cheeks.
"Had
a very good night as it were..." Lex muttered. He glanced down the
hall, hearing footsteps. Aiyla glanced that way as well.
Eire
and Saffron came around the corner. It was obvious they'd been out all
night, from working. "Man I am so going to get back at Nate for
weaslin' out of this job...That bloody rat bastard! I'll get him for
this!" Eire was grumbling.
Saffron was looking up the hall a bit speechless and smacked Eire in the arm. Eire looked around and saw Aiyla, Xander and OH MY GOD..."LEX?!" Eire's voice was oddly high pitched.
Lex gave a nervous smile and tiny wave. "Her idea..." He pointed at Aiyla.
"Christ Lex! You're...you're in a skirt!" Saffron sputtered. "Go put some pants on or something!"
Lex
bristled, stood straighter and glared at Saffron. "Well that's the
whole point, isn't it? I'm supposed to be in a skirt..." He said
indignantly.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Saffron covered his eyes, then glared right back at Lex.
"IT's a bet!" Lex retorted defensively.
"A..bet?! Oh fuckin' hell!" Saffron rolled his eyes.
Lex narrowed his eyes, then strode past Eire and Saffron, leaving Eire
staring after him with wide eyes and a shocked expression. He kept
walking, with his chin up, and put an effort into looking good in the
heels, just to rub it in.
Lex smirked to himself, but kept walking, turning the corner the way Eire and Saffron had come.
Aiyla
watched Lex go, slightly in awe, then she began giggling. "Must've been
a DAMN good night, Lex." She muttered, still giggling.
She leaned over and closed Eire's jaw with two fingers. "Looks good, don't he?" Aiyla asked, with a deviously amused smirk.
"Wha?! No! Lord! It was Lex...in a skirt!" Eire stuttered.
"I've been scared for life..." Saffron groaned, covering his eyes again.
Aiyla snorted. "Grow up, Saffron. He looks good, he knows it, so let him have his fun!"
"He's a...guy!" Saffron retorted.
Aiyla giggled. "Not today, he isn't..." Xander put in from his spot and Aiyla gestured that Xander was quiet correct.
"So what's this bet then?" Saffron snarled, eyeing Aiyla.
Aiyla
was unfazed. "Who looks better in a skirt...and if you guys keep this
up, Lex is bound to win and I wont tell you what I have to do, if he
does..." She gave them a look as if it was their fault she was loosing,
then flipped her hair over her shoulder, upped her chin and turning,
walking after Lex, with a strut.
She heard Eire wolf whistle as she went and smirked. "And don't call Nate a rat bastard, Eire..." She called over her shoulder.
"I didn't mean it!" Eire called back in his defense.
"No
Auron, really.. yes everything's going great, the furniture is being
delivered to the offices today, and Faal says the work on the
apartments is coming along nicely. No it'll still be a while before we
can move in completely, but we can transfer the work over any time..."
Chaos caught a glimpse of red coming her way and glanced up. "LEX?!
Holy shi.. NO Auron .. no nothing's wrong! Nothing, ... hang on a
sec.." Chaos rolled her eyes and put a hand over her cell phone. "Lex,
I don't want to know.. but you look great! Give me some warning though
next time, I think I gave your father a heart attack..." She chuckled
then looked up at Aiyla and groaned..."I should've known you were
involved."
Chaos quickly popped the cell back to her ear. "No
Auron, no, don't come back, everything's fine. Lex and Aiyla are just
experimenting with some... new looks...."
Chaos walked down the hall towards the kitchen trying to calm Auron down, leaving Lex and Aiyla behind.
Lex
had to lean against the wall, in a sudden fit of giggles as he watched
Chaos heading for the kitchen. He was absolutely glad his father was
not here. No doubt his current out fit would have shocked Auron at
least somewhat. He wasn't always as calm as he appeared to be.
Aiyla seemed to read his thoughts and said. "He'd be a lot more shocked if it were Saffron in a skirt..."
This
comment made Lex giggle even more and he shook his head. Aiyla pulled
him away from the wall, arm and arm, and led him down the hall. "Where
are we going, Aiyla?"
"Oh, in search of Nate..." Aiyla said airily with a gesture.
"Why, so you can flaunt the fact you'll probably win THAT side of the bet?" Lex asked with a look.
"Well,
it doesn't look as if I'll be winning the compliments." Aiyla said with
a devious grin. "So I have to win something...besides...do you really
expect to see Faal today...?" She said teasingly.
"The
place is really comin' along." Nate said, a smirk on his face as they
returned from the early morning furniture delivery he'd been dragged
into receiving with Faal at the new building. "How soon d'ye think th'
apartments'll be ready? Aiyla an' I..."
Nate's voice trailed off into an odd low moan as his eyes suddenly locked on to Aiyla.
Faal
glanced up to see what had had such an effect on Nate and found himself
stunned and making almost the same noise Nate had. He couldn't seem to
tear his eyes off of Lex. "Bright Terra... you are stunning...." He
managed to babble, aware that he was staring... and probably looked
like a complete idiot...
Nate managed to find his voice at last.
"Damn." His eye's hadn't wavered off Aiyla, and it was quite possible
that neither man had noticed the person beside the one they were
staring at...
Aiyla suddenly beamed, still holding onto Lex's arm. "Wonderful! Good morning, boys." She said cheerfully.
Lex leaned in close to her and whispered. "You know that old saying, don't you?"
"Oh
yes..." Aiyla whispered back, light green eyes sparkling. "Speak of the
devil and he shall appear. But the question on the table today,
dearest, is which one is the devil and which is the saint?"
Lex giggled. "You may not like what you find out..." He whispered back.
Aiyla
found herself giggling and let go of Lex's arm. "And you may not
either, but it'll be fun either way..." She said in a sing song tone
before sashaying toward Nate, with her most charming smile, though
there was obvious humor in her eyes. "You've been out early...not
getting into trouble with out me, I hope..." She said, quirking an
eyebrow.
Nate
cleared his throat, his eyes glued to Aiyla as she sauntered closer.
His arms automatically wrapped them selves around her, which was a good
thing, because his brain didn't seem to be functioning properly at the
moment... and his eye's kept moving up and down the length of her of
their own accord... and his pants were definitely too tight at the
moment...
Faal felt his face contort into a truly amazing
smile as he managed to convince his feet to move forward. He stopped in
front of Lex, praying to who ever might be listening to make him NOT
look like a fool... or sound like one... "Lex... little flame... you
are...." He managed to tear his gaze away from the repeat inspection he
kept giving him and focus on his eyes. " You are truly beyond words.."
Lex
had to lower his head, from the very deep blush. "Thank you..." He
giggled nervously then said, "That now puts me up two comments ahead of
Aiyla..." He snuck a glance at Aiyla and Nate and rolled his eyes,
considered what happened should he loose the first part of the bet, and
was half thankful he'd thought up something truly wicked for if Aiyla
lost the second part of the bet.
He looked back at Faal with a slightly nervous smile, "It's not to much, the whole outfit, do you think?"
Aiyla
giggled femininely, paused to shake her head at her self and smiled at
Nate. "Cat have your tongue darlin'?" She asked coyly, snaking an arm
around his neck. If Nate had any common sense, he'd drag her off right
there and she'd have her win in the bag. She too, snuck a covert glance
in Lex and Faal's direction.
Faal
shook his head. "Not at all... I told you, you look fabulous in
everything you wear.. but I had no clue just how fabulous you could
get..." Faal seemed to manage to break his paralyzes and slid his
hands over Lex's waist, pulling him tight against him as he leaned down
for a kiss. He whispered in Lex's ear. "I'm sure you can feel just how
fabulous I think you look.." he said huskily. " I think your appearance
has sent the gentleman running away... "
Nate cleared
his throat, feeling the stupid grin on his face and wondering just how
this incredible woman could have such an effect on him time after time.
He'd seen her in some sexy outfits before... mostly in private.. Maybe
this one was hitting him so hard because everyone could see her in
it... "Ye look...wow.. " He managed to get his brain working enough to
pull her into a kiss to make up for the lack of words..
"Damn,
he's still got one a head of me..." Aiyla muttered, but accepted Nate's
comment by kissing him hard. Aiyla had always been highly competitive,
and she knew Lex looked fantastic, which only sent her competitive side
to working harder. Though she was entirely positive she was going to
enjoy today... lose or win... She didn't want to lose.
"Well,
I did warn the gentleman that I would be accepting Aiyla's bet." Lex
replied softly with a coy smile, though he was still blushing. Even
more so when Faal pulled him against him. But he slid an arm around
Faal's neck. The heels gave Faal the distinct advantage of not having
to lean down to far, and Lex found he liked it better that way.
Faal
suddenly broke out into a mischievous grin. "Yes, I do seem to remember
that." He kissed Lex again, sliding his hands down over the skirt. "I
could get to like this you know... you may have to do this more
often.... "
Nate suddenly grinned devilishly and scooped
Aiyla up into his arms, accidentally making her foot hit Faal. He was
suddenly aware that they standing in the hall with Faal and Lex right
beside them...
"Lex?!?" Nate whispered, almost dropping Aiyla.
"Oh for cryin' out loud !" Shauna said, trying to squeeze past the two couples. "Get a ROOM!"
Faal grinned at Lex. "And excellent idea, don't you think?"
Lex
tossed Nate a nervous smile and then said in reply to Nate's stunned
expression. "It was all Aiyla's idea, so blame her..." He stepped back
giving Shauna more room, and answered Faal. "Shauna does occasionally
have a good idea. But it is only a little after seven in the
morning..." He glanced at Aiyla.
Aiyla
managed to keep her balance and shot Lex a dark look. To which he only
grinned back at her. She mouthed, 'Watch it, Lexine' He gave her an
innocent expression and she rolled her eyes, before replying. "Don't
blame it all on me, Lexi, you accepted the bet too..." Then she had to
laugh. "Does it really matter if it's seven in the morning, or there
after? Have you never heard of a quickie..." She shoved playfully at
Shauna, while grinning like a Cheshire cat
Shauna
rolled her eyes at Aiyla then noticed the outfit she was wearing. She
gave Aiyla a look that clearly said she was not amused. "You wear THAT,
and *I* am the one who get's all that flack over the stuff I wear! This
place is SO not fair!" She said, shoving Aiyla back and started past
them again. "Damn... you too?!" Shauna asked, eyeing Lex. " Well.. at
least you don't look slutty, like SOME people." she said and scooted
quickly out of Aiyla's reach, grinning back at them.
Faal
noticed Nate had scooped Aiyla into his arms and decided to do the
same, sweeping Lex off his feet. "So love? Shall we sneak off, or will
you torture me longer?"
Lex
noticed Aiyla was clearing giving him a look that Shauna's words had
been his fault and looked back at Faal. "Might be wise to sneak off,
before she finds a way to lunge out of Nate's arms and try and kill
me..."
Aiyla had over heard this remark and said in a very mock sweet tone. "Kill you? Why ever would I kill you, Lexine?"
Lex gave her a nervous giggle and nervous smile, and decided not to tell her to be such a sore loser.
Faal
chuckled, stealing a kiss before swinging around and heading back to
the door. "Shauna.. be a dear and let the others know Lex and I will be
back later?
Nate stood with Aiyla in his arms, watching Faal
and Lex with an amused grin on his face. His attention was brought back
to the present when Aiyla whacked him on the chest to get his attention.
Aiyla
gave Nate a look. "Should I inquire as to WHY you were looking at Lex
in such a way?" She said in a crisp tone. Then whacked him again. "You
have no idea how much I've got riding on this and if he gets out of
that skirt before I do, I'm going to be very put off with you,
Nathaniel McDonnell..." She hissed. Nate
raised an eyebrow at her. "I was lookin' at him, cause it's not every
day ye get to see one o' yer best friends, in a dress! " He said
carrying her down the hall, trying to remember which came first, his
own office or one that would be empty the longest. "And as fer th'
skirt... there's not as much t' yers as his.,. so it should come off a
tad quicker. He finished with a chuckle.
Faal
realized upon reaching the car that they should've just gone into an
office. Not only would Lex have won the bet that much quicker, but he
was really not sure how long he could wait.. but he just couldn't
imagine doing that to Lexine. With him, he wanted it to always be
romantic.. not just some ' quickie' somewhere.... damn that
gentleman...
Lex
rolled his eyes, playfully. "Lord, Faal...put me down, for just a
second..." He said. And when Faal had, Lex pulled him down to kiss
hard, then said very hurriedly. "I suggest you think of a place soon,
because if Nate's already found a place for him and Aiyla...you're
going to be seeing me in a skirt a lot more in the next few weeks..."
Faal
kissed Lex back, a bit harder then he'd intended. " I'm sorry Lex.. I
know how much this bet means to you.. and trust me, I REALLY really
want you out of that skirt as fast as possible... but I can't bring
myself to.. cheapen you that way."
He eyed his car, considering.. after all. he had brought one with a nice size back seat and tinted windows....
"I
understand, but really...you'd best pick some where quick, because
other wise, I may be slightly annoyed..' He said playfully, leaning
back against the car with his arms around Faal's neck. "And don't let
me loose the earrings, Sylvie loaned them to me..."
Faal lifted Lex up out of the way and quickly unlocked the car. He opened the back door and gave a slight shrug. "Well?" Lex
gave him a coy look, followed by an impish grin as he scooted inside.
Faal caught his breath as he watched Lex crawl across the seat and
quickly scooted in after.
Lex
slid up against the other door, kicked off his shoes, and took out the
earrings dropping them in one shoe, so as not to lose them and watched
Faal with a coy smile. "At least you didn't drive anything smaller." He
teased with a purr.
"You'd best be glad you didn't find Eire
in a dress." Aiyla told Nate with an amused look. "Besides, Lex did
look rather good...The boy's got a pair of legs, I'd know girls to kill
over..." Aiyla giggled. "Not as good as mine, but good..."
Xander wandered about the offices and made his way to the main lobby, mostly in search of Sylvie...
"Think I could barrow a pencil?" He asked with a smile.
"Xander, wha' the fuck are ye doin' here?!" Came Eire's voice.
Xander looked his way, rolled his eyes and sighed overly dramatic. Eire did know when to ruin a good approach.
Sylvie
raised an eyebrow at Xander. " Good question.. what ARE you doing here?
As for the pencil... do you see one?" she asked raising her hands. They
were standing in the middle of the hall, so she raised one hand and
pointed back towards the main desk. " Try Shauna at the lobby... Eire..."
she said turning her attention on the Irishman. "Please.. could you
tone down the language a touch.. I am really getting tired of all the
cursing that goes on here..."
With that she maneuvered around
Xander and opened one of the office doors. "What do you two think your
doing?! OUT!! Nathanial.. you should know better!!"
Aiyla
groaned, managed to straighten herself before anything was seen and
blew a lock of hair out of her face, before glancing at Nate and
deciding that the sheepish expression he was wearing, was actually
quiet cute.
She chuckled and turned her eyes on Sylvie, before
saying. "Don't blame him, Sylvie...it was the skirt's fault. " She
grabbed Nate by the hand and while dragging him toward the door, stole
a quick look out the window to see if she saw Lex or Faal's car... "A prime example of WHY it's not appropriate work attire!!" Sylvie yelled after the two. She turned to Xander and Eire
who both wore rather amused expressions. "I have the feeling that very
little work is going to be accomplished today by certain people..."
Sylvie
popped into the office, leaving the door open as she headed for the
desk to drop a file into the 'in' basket. She turned at the soft sound
of the door shutting, and found Xander standing a few feet away with a
rather sheepish look on his face.
**
Tizzy
was on her way in to see Aiyla about possibly going shopping at
Lunch(Tiz had had an argument with Jimmy and could use the shopping
therapy) when she was quiet certain she heard a voice from the car say,
"Do watch the buttons..."
Tizzy stopped looking at the car.
She knew that was Lex's voice. She quirked an eyebrow and heard some
one come to her side. "Mornin' Tiz!" Eire said cheerfully.
"Morning E!" Tizzy replied cheerfully, then nodded to the car. "Who's Lex in there with?"
Eire glanced at the car, then snorted. "Probably Faal..."
"Ah..." Tizzy said with an absent nod, staring at the car...She glanced at Eire, then at the car and they both began to grin wickedly.
Eire
stepped up to the car, cleared his throat, and pounded on the window.
Then said loudly in a lower tone voice then usual. "Sir, you're parked
in the red zone...I'm going to have to ask you to move your vehicle if
you don't want a ticket..."
Faal
jerked his head up with a start at the voice, smacking his head of the
roof. "Ow! Damn..." He glanced down at Lex who's shirt was half
unbuttoned, skirt hiked up and had a shocked and still sexy expression
on his face.
"Sir? Would you mind stepping out of the vehicle sir?" came the voice again.
Faal
closed his eyes and hung his head. "Damn .. see? THIS is a perfect
example of why I prefer privacy for this." Faal scooted back off Lex,
pulling the skirt back down as Lex quickly rebuttoned the blouse.
He
pulled his loose hair back over his shoulder, and redid the few buttons
that Lex hand managed to undo, then opened the car door and climbed
out. He felt Lex scoot across the seat closer to the door behind him.
The snicker gave him away as Faal looked up, expecting to see a police officer. He gave an irritated sigh, shaking his head. "Eire... "
Lex looked around Faal and saw Eire,
and his eyes narrowed. "Oh little bastard..." Lex growled. and actually
attempted to lunge from with in the car, around Faal with intent to
deck Eire in the jaw.
"Oh shit!" Eire
snickered and ducked around the other side of Tizzy. Tizzy was trying
not to giggle out right as she attempted to get away from Eire, but Eire kept right behind her, now in a fit of giggles himself.
Tizzy snickered as Lex made a swipe for Eire, and Eire ducked further behind her. "Oh calm down, Lexi! IT was just a joke..." Tizzy said, still giggling.
"Oh really?" Lex hissed.
"He's right..." Eire said, from leaning against Tizzy, snickering. "It wasn't EXACTLY a joke...I mean mate, in the car? Come on!"
Tizzy
stuffed a fist in her mouth to keep from laughing any more, and winced
slightly at Lex's look. It was a rather upset kind of look, not so much
as an angry upset sort of look...Eire how ever hadn't seemed to notice.
Faal
ducked back inside the car and retrieved Lex's shoes. "Eire, juvenile
is too adult a term to describe you at times..." he said with a sigh,
handing Lex his shoes and shutting the car door, then took Lex's arm.
"Shall we leave? Or head back inside..." he asked, silently hoping he'd
suggest leaving.
"Oh bloody 'ell it was jus' a little fun!" Eire said with a mock whine from behind Tizzy.
"A little fun!? Oh God, Eire
some times you can be so fucking dense!" Lex snapped. He looked at Faal
and answered his question. "Leave, definitely, they wont miss me for a
while... And Aiyla already knows I'm with you.." He glanced at the
building, resigned to assume Aiyla had already won that part of the
bet. He tried to reason with himself that the results wouldn't be THAT
bad, and it should prove to be a simple job...but for some reason he
wasn't really looking forward to it.
With Faal holding his arm, he took the earrings out of the one shoe, put them back in and slid on the heels, before giving Eire a dark look.
Faal tried to stifle the smirk that wanted to spread across his face. Images of getting Lex back to the apartment.. alone with no interruptions...
Faal cleared his throat suddenly remembering Eire
and Tizzy standing there. "Well.. let's go then. " He said opening the
door for Lex. He turned and gave Tizzy a smile. "nice to see you again
Tizabella. Eire" he added the latter with a scowl as he ran around to the driver's side and got in.
He
started the engine, one hand sliding Lex's skirt back up as he gunned
the engine and tore off up the street, heading for Lex's apartment.
Eire and Tizzy exchanged looks, staring after the car.
Tizzy snickered, and started for the building. Eire quickly followed. "I swear, they can't take a joke...especially Lex!"
"Eire, you idiot...they were in the middle of something...' Tizzy said with a laugh.
"Wha? Makin' out?! Lord, they do that enough as it is!" Eire
said rolling his eyes. "besides, it's not a good idea t' be makin' out
in the back seat o' a car...especially outside THIS building!" Eire muttered.
Tizzy snickered. "You know, I think they make such a cute couple..."
"Oh God, YOU too?!" Eire groaned and as they entered the building, broke from Tizzy's side.
"Oh and Eire! Fairlen sends her well wishes!" Tizzy called. She saw Eire pause, look back, then blush and hurry on.
Tizzy snickered and went in search of Aiyla.
*** Aiyla
had seen the most of what had happened from the window in Nate's
office. She grumbled. "I am NOT losing this bet to him...you should
have locked that door, Nate..." She looked back at him, with a touch a
look, though something was tugging at the corner of her lips.
Lex
shifted slightly in the seat, allowing the skirt to ride up just a bit
more, revealing the lace tops of the stockings and the starts of the
garter belt. He pulled the band out of the end of the braid, and
unbraided his hair, shaking it loose.
"Lord, some times Eire goes to far..." He muttered, looking out the window, and absently twisting a lock of his own hair around his fingers...
Faal
sighed softly. "Don't leave me, Lex..." he gave the thigh a squeeze as
they wiped around a corner. " I'm risking a speeding ticket here to get
you alone... it would be very nice if you were still in the mood when
we get there..."
He gave him a soft smile, eyes twinkling to let him know he was joking... sort of.
"It
wouldn't be the first speeding ticket, would it?" Lex asked softly with
a slight smile. "Beside..." He shifted in the seat and leaned in Faal's
direction. "You haven't lost me yet." He said softly with a coy smile.
One garter came loose from the stocking and Lex glanced at Faal with an
expression that he should take that as a sign...
Xander
shifted nervously, realized the door was probably a bad idea, kept
fidgeting and managed to get out. "Er...Aiyla sort of
suggested....since I keep hangin'...'round...that I...should...er...ask
for...an...application...and I have NO idea who to ask...but it seemed
like a good idea..."
He stared at the floor, hard, taking in
the pattern of the carpet and quiet deciding it was the ugliest carpet
he'd ever seen, snuck a look at Sylvie, felt his ears reddening and
tried to find something else to look at.
He wondered briefly,
if any one else OTHER then Aiyla had noticed recently that he hadn't
been dressing as...outrageously as he used to. In fact, today he was
wearing a pair of black jeans and a simple long sleeved black shirt.
Only exception to his usual wardrobe was the coat...it was impossible
to give up since Jasmine had given it to him.
Sylvie
eyed Xander for a moment, trying to decide what to say, when it dawned
on her that he was serious. She raised an eyebrow and was about to say
something when she stopped again. She noticed how nervous he seemed to
be asking and she realized how difficult it must have been for him to
actually ASK... to even want to apply for a job here, in a place where he was not well liked.
She
leaned back against the desk and looked at him for a moment. He seemed
to take a deep interest in the carpet and the walls and the ceiling..
anywhere that wasn't her. Sylvie suddenly realized her wasn't wearing
any leather, or netting... there was no skin or body piercings showing
through his clothing.. no chains... and she suddenly found herself
trying to remember how long he'd been dressing nicer.. and acting less
of an ass, come to think of it. She felt herself blush suddenly
with shame as she realized she didn't know. She'd always avoided him as
much as possible and so had never really paid attention.
She
cleared her throat. "Actually... we don't really have much of an
application for the more 'active' part of the business... just the more
mundane aspects... but I suppose you could add your 'extra'
qualifications on a second sheet. " She stood back up and crooked a
finger at him to follow her. "Come back to the main desk and I'll see
if I can dig one up for you.” she said, walking past him to the door.
"Oh and Xander... you look much better this way without all the..
'snaz'... you should try a bit of color though. You look very nice in
black, but all black al the time...."
Xander
tried not to grin, managed a shrug that he hoped wasn't idiotic and
said, rather softly. "I don't...have a lot of colors..." He winced,
realizing that was probably the most stupid thing to say and shut his
mouth, shoving his hands in his pocket, and obediently following Sylvie
from the office.
Eire was
lingering in the hall, and gave Xander a dark look, starting to open
his mouth. Xander returned the look with a look that plainly asked,
'Must you?!' and Eire suddenly shut his mouth, raising an eyebrow.
Xander
continued on his way, following Sylvie, and rather then let the silence
fester, said softly. "That was really nice of you...loaning Lex your
earrings..."
Sylvie was a tad shocked that Eire
hadn't made any rude comments to Xander as they'd passed by him, but
smiled softly at Xander’s comment. "Yes well... Lex is a sweet boy, and
a hard, dedicated worker... and he looked fabulous this morning. And
those hoops were just not doing anything for that outfit." she laughed
softly as they approached the main desk and she walked around it to the
filing cabinets on the far side, where she began digging through
assorted papers. With a smile she yanked a folder and plucked a couple
papers from it, then plucked a couple blank sheets and a pen off the
desk, handing them to Xander. "There you go... You'll probably want to
pop into the kitchen and use the table..."
Xander
took the papers and pen and smiled nervously. "Thanks...yeah, I'll
uh...er...yeah, I'll go do that..." he muttered pathetically and
inwardly winced. Yes, go ahead, make a complete fool of yourself, Xander...
"Thanks..." He muttered again, cause he had nothing left to say. With
another nervous smile, he saluted her with the pen and high tailed it
for the kitchen.
Shauna
glanced up and watched Xander leaving, then turned a curious look to
Sylvie. "What was that about? He seemed .. really... nervous."
Sylvie chuckled softly as she returned the folder to the cabinet. "Xander is applying for a job with us."
Shauna
snorted then looked down the hall, her pen tapping against her lip
thoughtfully. "Nah.. that's not it. I know guys, and that wasn't the
'applying for a job' nervous... that was ' got the hots for a girl'
nervous...."
Sylvie raised an eyebrow at Shauna. "Really?"
Shauna
tilted her head to one side and rolled her eyes. "Trust me.. that's a
look I see often enough to know it when I see it... He's got the hots
for someone here.. that's why he keeps hanging out, that's probably why
he wants a job here..."
Sylvie looked down the hall toward where
Xander had disappeared. " Hmmm." she said then turned and grabbed
another batch of files that had to be delivered the other offices.
**
Faal
took a glance in his mirror and groaned, his hand leaving Lex's thigh
and tugging the skirt back down in the process. " Jinxed." he said,
watching the flashing lights pull closer until he was sure they were
after him before pulling over.
Lex
groaned, seeing the flashing lights. He covered his face with both
hands a moment, before sighing and muttering, "Bloody hell...I think Eire jinxed us..."
The
officer got out of his car and made his way toward the driver's side
window. Lex kept his eyes on his hands in his lap, silently cursing Eire.
"Are
you aware, you were double over the speed limit back there?" The
officer asked, after Faal had rolled down the window. "Is there an
emergency?" The officer asked politely, letting his gaze linger on Lex,
a bit long.
"Not
as such, officer, no.." Faal said, pulling out his wallet. "Lex, love,
can you get the registration out of the glove compartment there for the
officer? Thank you. " He turned back and handed his license to the cop.
"I'm terribly sorry, I know there is no excuse I could offer that would
mean anything other than to myself..."
The
officer watched Lex lean forward to retrieve the registration from the
glove compartment, and hand it Faal. "For doing nearly eighty in a
sixty zone, no, there isn't an excuse, sir." The officer took the
registration and license, and began heading back to his cruiser.
Lex
watched him from the side mirror, an eyebrow raised. The officer had
been watching Lex, more then he'd been looking at Faal. "I'm so going
to give Eire a piece of my mind for this..." Lex muttered, shaking his head slightly. "Him and his little joke...
Faal
turned with a sigh to face Lex. "You see? Now I had been my usual
gentlemanly, restrained self, this would not have happened..." He
glanced in his mirror at the officer then stole a kiss form Lex. " But
then, where would the fun be in that... "
Lex
gave a nervous giggle, aware the officer was coming back. "Its not your
first speeding ticket..." He reminded Faal. "And it probably wont be
your last...but don't blame me..."
The officer appeared at
Faal's window again, handing back the license and registration. "I'm
going to have to write you a ticket." He said, taking out the ticket
book.
Lex didn't fail to notice that officer's gaze traveled
over him again, and lingered on the hemline of the skirt. He shifted
slightly in the seat, trying not to tug the skirt lower, trying to
leave his hands folded demurely in his lap.
Faal
waited patiently for the officer to finish writing the ticket, becoming
aware of Lex tensing up beside him. He turned to glance at the redhead
and saw how he was sitting, not looking at him and thought for a moment
that he'd upset him somehow.. at the same time the officer handed his
registration and license back to him and he turned, catching how the
officers gaze seemed locked on Lex.
He cleared his throat rather
irritated. "Excuse me, but am I going to have to call someone to report
unseemly behavior form an officer? My lawyer.. the police chief,
perhaps? I haven't spoken to Charles in a while and I'm sure he
wouldn’t be very happy to have an old acquaintance explain to him how
one of his officers had made a lady feel very uncomfortable with his
attentions..."
The
officer neither reacted with embarrassment or resentment, tore the
ticket off the book and began handing it to Faal, but kept a grip on
it, from his end. "Perhaps the lady shouldn't make a spectacle of
herself." He replied monotone, but he gave a rather wicked grin.
Lex's
eyes snapped around, slightly wide, he met the officer's gaze. The
officer winked, and it took Lex a moment to realize he'd seen him
before, but he couldn't figure it out. It wasn't until the officer
turned his head to glance a car going by, that Lex realized where. He
was one of Xanato’s' pets, from the Black Cat. This caused Lex to look
away again, quickly.
"Oh no..." Lex muttered in a whisper, a
hand going to his mouth in hope the officer hadn't heard him. He had a
sneaking suspicion where this was going to lead. He was trying to
figure out which one of Xanato’s two pets the officer was, when the
officer turned his head back. He was still holding on to the ticket
Xander
wandered down to the kitchen, looking the papers over and scratching
the back of his neck with the pen. The problem was, his mind was else
where and he really wasn't read the papers like he should have been.
Thankfully
the kitchen was empty for the moment. He flopped down at the table, but
ended up staring at the wall, not really seeing it.
Faal
had caught both the officers look and heard Lex, and turned a irritated
look to the officer. "Excuse me? What do you mean by her making a
spectacle of herself? She's more then decently dressed and is sitting
very ladylike, she is covered up very discreetly, no bosom showing, nor
too much leg. She hasn't said a word to you, so it couldn't possibly be
anything she's said to you, and she's barely even looked at you, so you
can't claim she's been giving you lavacious looks! " Faal removed his
phone from his pocket and handed it to Lex." This is outrageous. Phone
Charles for me, darling, it's number two on speed dial. We're going to
end this right now."
Lex
started to take the phone, but hesitated. He did his best not to look
at the officer, and said very softly. "Faal, can we not make a scene of
this?" He asked, biting his lip. He was afraid anything Faal did would
have repercussions. He'd been vaguely aware that Xanatos still had an
interest in him, but this was the first time he'd run into either of
Xanato’s' pets, and didn't fancy running into Xanatos himself.
The
officer snickered softly, then said quiet cheerfully. "Go ahead and
make that call sweetheart, it's not the police chief I have to answer
to... I really like this car by the way," The officer stepped back, and
Lex realized it was Lea, the one who'd been leering at him when he and
Nate had had the private drink with Xanatos, the one Lex considered
more danger of the two. "I like it better then the S700 in the series."
Faal
turned and looked at Lex curiously, but the officer's comment about not
answering to the chief caught his attention. He turned back to the
window, made sure he had both his license and registration back, then
glanced in the mirror to see the license plate number on the car. Then
he turned a bright smile to the officer. "Excuse me... I'd like to
thank you for clearing up this little problem."
The officer
turned a quizzical eye on Faal, but before he could say anything, Faal
hauled of and blasted him with a burst of rainbow light that knocked
him almost completely across the road.
Faal grabbed the phone
back from Lex, hitting the number as he tore away from the curb, one
eye on the road the other on the man just gaining his feet again as he
vanished into the rearview mirror.
"Charles! Hello, it's Faal..
yes, long time. Look I have a bit of a problem.. or I should say, you
do. I was just pulled over by an officer who was not only extremely
rude but claimed to not have to answer to you." Faal slowed enough to
take the corner safely, then poured on the speed again, circling back
towards the office. "No actually, I think he's.. yes that right. Yes I
do.. the plate on the vehicle and the badge number. Of course, let me
know when you're ready." Faal rattled off the numbers as he maneuvered
through the side streets. "Excellent. Thank you. Hmm? Oh, I knocked him
on his ass and took off, but he'd already seen my registration and
license, so who knows what trouble he might cause. Of course, Charles,
that was my next call. Thank you again. I will. " He snapped the phone
shut and pocketed it, pulling out onto the street the office was on and
heading around to the back of the building to park this time.
He
turned to Lex as he shut the car off and saw an shocked yet somehow
wary expression on his face. "He wasn't a real cop, Lex.. and I take it
you know him?” He opened his door and quickly moved around to Lex's
side and opened his. "come on, Luv. let's get inside incase he tracks
us down. I need to call a couple Lawyers and whatnot.."
Lex
rubbed his temple, but slid out of the car, tugging down the skirt. "I
wouldn't exactly say know..." Lex said softly and he quickly explained
about the under cover assignment at the Black Cat with Nate. "We
thought at first it was Xanatos, but when two were murdered while
Xanatos and his..pets were in the private lounge with us having a
drink, well there was no way...The thing is, Xanatos admitted he well
connected, and I'm rather sure he knew exactly where my collar came
from." Lex ended as the entered the offices.
**
Sylvie
delivered the last of the assignment folders to the last of the offices
and was heading back to the main desk when she decided to detour to the
kitchen and check on the coffee.
She saw Xander sitting at the
table staring blankly at the wall, the papers in front of him on the
table forgotten. she glanced at the clock and frowned. It had been a
good twenty minutes ago that she'd sent him off to fill out the papers.
A quick glance over his shoulder showed he'd managed to fill in name,
age phone number, species/race.... and then had apparently stopped.
Sylvie
was about to say something when he gave his neck another scratch with
the pencil and twiddled it for a moment , seemingly rereading the paper
before sighing and returning his stare at the wall.
She walked
around him to the coffee maker and gave the mostly empty pot a swirl
before deciding it was probably toxic by now and dumped the remains
out. She quickly changed the filter and started a new pot before
turning back to Xander. He was still sitting the same way , the pencil
still held as if he wasn't sure what to do with it.. but instead of
staring at the wall, he was staring at her.
"Writer's block?"
she asked. "I know I know...that's not the right term, but you've got
the same look I used to see in the middle of exams and such at school.
Unprepared for paper work just causes the mind to erase itself at
times... "she smiled reassuringly. She'd decided he probably hadn't
filled out anything like this, if not ever, being a former hell-raised
slave. "Need some help?"
"Oh...er..."
Xander actually blushed. He couldn't remember the last time some one
had actually caused him to blush. But blushing in front of Sylvie, only
made him blush more and he looked back at the papers. What WERE you thinking, Xander... "I guess a little help couldn't hurt." He offered a rather nervous and shy smile. Sylvie
pulled a chair over a bit closer to Xander so she could read the papers
too and sat down. "So... you froze on the schooling question..
considering your upbringing, that’s understandable. Have you taken any
sort of classes or anything like that? Equivalency exams? If not..."
she shrugged. "Well, I suppose we can just put N/A...."
**
Faal
sighed heavily as he ushered Lex into the building. "You my dearest,
are a trouble magnet... you are just too sexy and desirable for your
own good. " He said, turning to scoop Lex into his arms and steal a
deep kiss.
Lex
kissed him back, then gave him a look. "Are you suggesting I not
venture out in public any more, if I'm that much of a trouble magnet?"
He asked softly. "I've been a recluse before, wasn't much fun for those
four months..." He added still in a soft tone. "And it's not like I
MEAN to end up in so much trouble...You don't think that do you?" He
looked up at Faal, slightly wide eyed.
Faal
chuckled and kissed Lex again. "No, no. Lex... I'm only teasing you. I
don't mind... I even rather enjoy the trouble some times.. especially
if it gives me the opportunity to 'rescue' you or otherwise come to
your aid. " He finished with a wink.
Lex
was forced to laugh softly. "You do so enjoy being my knight in
shinning armor, don't you?" He asked softly, caressing Faal's cheek.
Then he sighed. "I can only imagine what Xanatos will be told...to be
honest, I think I’ve seen one of his two pets from time to time
following me... I should ask Nate if he's been followed, but I doubt
it..."
Faal
ran his fingers through Lex's hair, brushing it back from his face.
"Perhaps the two of you should have taken a bit more care to disguise
yourselves that night." he said. "I don't like that though of you being
stalked by yet another man..."
**
Xander
looked at the question a moment, and was forced to laugh softly. "I was
schooled by my...sister...until she...until I was 17, majored in
history, mostly. Abandon at least had a wonderful library. I do take a
couple of college classes...during the summer mostly..."
Sylvie
smiled. "Home schooled... well, put that down, along with whatever
college courses you've taken." She laughed softly. "See? Not so hard...
sometime you just need to hear the question instead of read it.. I had
a roommate at university who was like that. She'd reread it over and
over and it wouldn't click until I read it for her and suddenly it made
sense to her."
She glanced over and saw the coffee pot full. She stood up and headed for the machine. "Would you care for a cup?"
"Sure...accupa
wouldn't be bad." Xander said, with a bit more of a smile. "I've got
dyslexia really...which is why I only take classes in the summer..."
Xander added, about the questions, while writing. It was mostly the
truth
Sylvie
peered over her shoulder at him as she poured the coffee. " You're
dyslexic? I had no idea. My little sister was dyslexic. Cream? sugar?"
She asked as she set the mugs down on the table and returned to grab
the sugar bowl and cream from the fridge before taking her seat
"Oh
well, it's not a huge thing." Xander said, glancing at Sylvie, before
taking his cup, he drank it straight and black most times. "Although I
suppose it's why I used to tease the hell out of Lex all the time...for
all his hours spent in the library..."
"Typical
child reaction.. be a bully." she said, but her soft smile disarmed it
as an attack. "My sister hid it from her classmates and did much the
same as you.. picked on the kids would loved reading.. who so obviously
enjoyed something she couldn't. When they found out, some turned and
picked on her about it.. there were a couple of the ones she'd bullied
who actually forgave her, and one became a good friend until... well..
they became good friends."
Sylvie glanced at the paper on the table, suddenly remembering they were filling out forms... "Where were we?"
"I
didn't know you had a sister..." Xander said softly. "Course, I suppose
no one 'round here but Lex knew I had a sister..." He trailed off.
Then looked at the papers himself. "Er...right..." He blushed slightly.
Sylvie
focused on her coffee cup. "Well, no, I don't think they do. I think
you're the only one I've mentioned her too. Her name was Jaclyn.. she
died when I was twelve. She was seven.. almost eight. Hit and run. He
was arguing with his wife and didn't even see the crossing guard... he
hit three kids and the crossing guard.. Jaclyn was the only one who
died from her injuries.” Sylvie smiled sadly into her coffee cup.
"sometimes I can still see her face.. hear her laughter... other times,
she's hardly more then a dream..."
"Its
strange how that happens isn't it?" Xander asked softly, looking into
his cup of coffee. "I mean about some times being able to picture them
completely, and the others forgetting something as simple as the color
of her eyes. Evie was much older then me...but we were both...born into
slavery...In a lot of ways she was more of a mother then a sister...to
Lex just as much me...she died, trying to protect Lex from Abandon's
wrath one night...She'd hidden Lex away and refused to tell Abandon, so
he killed her...He still found Lex too...and well..it was probably one
of the kid's worst nights in his life..." Xander trailed off, still
looking into his coffee.
Sylvie
sighed sadly and when she heard the sadness in Xander's voice when he
spoke of his sister, she reached over and covered his hand with hers.
"It's so long ago, and yet like yesterday at the same time. You never
lose them completely, and yet sometimes, you think it might be better
if you did then hold onto a half memory..."She gave his hand a pat
under hers then withdrew her hand awkwardly. She didn't know what had
possessed her to confide in Xander something that not even Chaos or
Nate knew about... but oddly enough she felt good about it.

"I'm
only being stalked, because Xanatos likes pretty boys..." Lex said
softly, yet found himself lowering his eyes. He was starting to loose
the confidence he'd had earlier, the idea that Xanatos was still
interested in him, making him tense and nervous, and submissive again.
Faal
sighed gathering Lex into a tight embrace. "Don't worry about it, Lex.
I'll take care of it. why don't you go back in and see what work is
waiting for you since I stole you away, and I shall make those
calls..." he tilted Lex's head back and kissed him again, ending it
with a few teasing brushes of his lips against Lex's. "Just don't
forget me while you're working away... "
Lex's
eyes had fluttered close. He opened them reluctantly after Faal had
kissed him. "Now how do you think I'll get through the rest of the day
with OUT thinking of you." He said with a mock look. "I don't think
I'll actually get much work done, now..." He smiled slightly, reaching
up and running his thumb over Faal's lips
Faal
chuckled as he turned Lex around and gave his rear end a gentle push.
"That's the idea... then they won't miss you when I steal you again.."
Faal
followed Lex through the door and down the hall, stopping at his
office. He watched Lex walk the rest of the way down the hall, enjoy
the view until he turned a corner, then he entered the office and
quickly made his phone calls.
Lex
decided to stop at the kitchen for a cup of coffee, and he headed in
that direction, but came up short out side the kitchen door upon spying
Sylvie and Xander sitting at the table together. He hesitated. He
really shouldn't intrude upon them...
**
Xander
really didn't talk about Evie to anyone. He supposed he should talk to
Lex about it, make sure Lex didn't think it was really his fault. "I
suppose the only thing that's important, when thinking about them is
remembering the...special moments. Evie was an exceptionally gifted
artist...she's responsible for the tattoos under Lex's eyes, when he
was 14...because he was tired of crying so much." Xander hadn't
realized Lex was just out side in the hall, or he perhaps wouldn't have
gotten that personal.
"She
meant a great deal to both of you. I'm sorry she isn't still with us..
I would've liked to be able to meet her.." Sylvie said then sniffed.
"Well... I suppose we should tackle another question.” She chuckled
softly and turned at a small sound behind them. "Oh.. hello Lex.
There's fresh coffee if you'd like.."
Xander
looked up suddenly when Sylvie welcome Lex and grimaced. Lex was
glaring at him coldly. Xander opened his mouth to say something, but he
really couldn't find anything to say.
'Thank
you SO much for delving out my personal information, Xander. I suppose
you told Sylvie exactly how Evie died?" Lex hissed. He actually looked
close to tears.
"No, I didn't say...not really." Xander
stuttered, "I didn't mean to...I hadn't intended...it wasn't
supposed..." He trailed off rather then fumble over any more words....
Lex
glared at Xander, not able to believe Xander would have said anything
in the first place, then reminded himself that WAS Xander. With one
last cold glare at the ice elemental, Lex spun on his heel and stormed
off, after the run in with Xanato’s little pet, Lex had felt on the
edge, and Xander' had been the last straw.
He stormed past the
offices, heading for the dorm, wiping his cheeks as he went, with the
intent to just get out side at least for some air and cigarette.
Sylvie
looked on in shock as Lex stormed out. "What.. what was that about? You
didn't say anything... were the origins of his tattoo a secret? I don't
understand..." She started to stand up and go after Lex, but was torn
between helping Xander.. who was also visibly upset.. or chasing after
Lex. with a sigh she sat back down. "Oh screw it. I don't feel like
running... there's more then enough people to give chase today. "She
rubbed a hand across Xander's back as she would comfort any of her
friends. "I think something is just bothering him, Xander.. I really
don't see how anything you said could've hit him so hard...."
Xander
sighed deeply. "The tattoos weren't a secret..." He muttered, "I just
suppose Lex prefers to be mad at me more then anything else..." Xander
shifted restlessly in the chair, unable to think about anything but the
bad blood between him and Lex.

Faal
heard a door slam as he hung up the phone from explaining things to his
lawyer and frowned. He peered out the door as saw a flash of red making
a beeline for the door. "Lex!"
Lex
had heard Faal, but he was already pushing the door open to head out
side, digging in his purse as he went. he didn't know if he was mad at
Xander or about everything else. he just suddenly did NOT want to be
around any one, except Faal... He glanced over his shoulder as he went
around the corner of building, hoping Faal had followed.
Faal
jogged down the hall, waving off a couple of the others who'd emerged
form work to see what the commotion was, and hurried out after Lex. He
stepped out side, looking around, then heard the faint click of heels
and hurried around the corner.
"Lex... sweetheart, will you
PLEASE think before storming off?!" he said in a gentle soothing voice.
"There are people who are obviously after you... please stop putting
yourself in positions where you become a target." He said and gathered
Lex into his arms. "I worry enough about you.. if someone took you or
hurt you.. where would I be?"
Lex dropped everything back in the
purse with a sigh, wiped his cheeks off again. "I had to get out of
there...it got to...claustrophobic..." He muttered. "I'm sorry, I
should have at least stopped at the door...but Xander was sitting the
kitchen with Sylvie, apparently running off at the mouth again, about
things he should have..."
"Xander
was talking to Sylvie... that in itself should give you pause. And you
know Sylvie isn't the type to either put up with or pass on gossip.
Perhaps you were too harsh? I mean, the incident earlier has obviously
upset you.. perhaps you over reacted a touch...?" Faal asked softly,
holding Lex close to him.
